SHAUNA SEVER - " PURE VANILLA"

Even with a history as rich as its naturally dreamy, creamy flavor, vanilla is overlooked, misunderstood, and generally taken for granted! Hundreds of cookbooks wax poetic about sexy, super-popular chocolate, while vanilla sits by the sidelines. It's high time we give this not-so-plain flavor its due! With dozens of recipes and a heavenly array of textures and complimentary pairings, Pure Vanilla celebrates this heavenly, ambrosial spice--harvested by hand from tree-climbing orchids, no less!--and all the amazing complex flavors it has to offer. Opening with a complete history of vanilla from orchid to extract, this cookbook goes on to provide origins, varieties, and tasting notes for all the vanillas available today.

DAVID NADELBERG - "THE MORTIFIED SESSIONS" - SUNDANCE

“The show is homage to both the heroism of children and healing  power of storytelling.” – Boston Globe  In the late 1990s, David Nadelberg stumbled upon an old, unsent  love letter, which inspired him to create “The Mortified Sessions,” the wildly  popular multi-city stage production and the best-selling book series,  “Mortified.”  On Monday, October 8, Sundance Channel brings back “The  Mortified Sessions” for its second season of brand new episodes.  Each week,  David – acting as part provocateur/part therapist -- encourages Hollywood  celebrities to reveal the personal items they’d probably rather  forget! Stars such as Jason Ritter (“Parenthood”), Gillian Jacobs  (“Community”), and Kristin Bauer (“True Blood”) have all opened up their hidden  shoebox of memories, sharing private (and often hilarious) mementoes from their  pasts, and how it shaped who they are today. On Thursday, Oct. 4, David can discuss some of the most  embarrassing items celebrities have shared with him and what he’s learned about  them in the process.  He can also discuss his inspiration for launching “The  Mortified Sessions,” which has become – in the words of Newsweek – “a  cultural phenomenon.”
