Executive Director Of The Soyfoods Council, Linda Funk, Talks To Us About The Healthy and Fun Soy Alternatives For This Halloween Season!

Halloween parties offer the perfect opportunity to enjoy autumn-inspired soyfoods recipes. Seasonal ideas from The Soyfoods Council include a variety of healthful, protein-rich ingredients in recipes that kids love. Parents love soyfoods, too, because each serving offers 7 to 15 grams of high-quality protein, low in saturated fat. For a snack the whole family can enjoy, consider Chocolate-covered “Soy-Prize.” With just three ingredients—soynut butter, semi-sweet dark chocolate, and frozen shelled edamame (fresh soybeans) that have been cooked and cooled—this is an easy-to-make treat. Edamame are threaded onto bamboo skewers and then dipped into melted soynut butter and melted chocolate. Black Soybean Dip for chips, crackers or pita is a quick and convenient recipe that starts with canned black soybeans and canned tan soybeans.

For other dip ideas, check out the Soyfoods Council recipe brochure, 50 Kid-Friendly Ideas Featuring Soyfoods. It’s available on the Soyfoods Council website. Without pumpkins, it wouldn’t be Halloween. That’s why the Soyfoods Council offers recipes such as Pumpkin Tofu Cheesecake. This dessert is a graham cracker crust specialty featuring silken tofu, fresh or canned pumpkin, and soy cream cheese.
