MORE ABOUT FAMOUS DAVE:
“Famous Dave” is one of the most successful Native American businesspersons in the nation. He is the founder of the legendary, authentic BBQ franchise, Famous Dave’s of America, with over 180* restaurants and over 700 awards for ‘The Best of the Best’.  He is a champion pitmaster, and a walking encyclopedia on BBQ.  Dave is an experienced guest on radio and TV, has been interviewed by Oprah, Kathy Lee, Donny Deutsch, Fox and Friends, and over 300 radio interviews. He makes a great guest, always gets invited back.

His life story and charitable contributions were featured on the Oprah Winfrey show, where he received Oprah’s Angel Award for his leadership work with at risk youth. Dave’s “against all odds” story has inspired millions — the journey of a Native American kid at the bottom half of his high school class that eventually earned a master’s degree from Harvard, without ever having received an undergraduate degree; his victory over alcohol abuse; his presidential appointment to the U.S. Department of Interior to lead the Bureau of Indian Affairs — all stand as testament to a remarkable individual. But Dave is also “quietly famous” to many, with his on-going leadership work with at-risk youth and financial support of underprivileged teens to attend college. He and his wife Kathy have also created hope for individuals of all ages, by personally paying for chemical dependency treatment programs, and making it possible for a new start in life.

WHY FAMILIES FROM ACROSS THE NATION ARE COMING
TOGETHER TO FIND A CURE FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER AT…CureFest

Learn the Amazing Story of a 7-Year Child’s battle with cancer, Her Mom, researchers & why thousands will gather in Washington to push for a cure!

In the United States, only 5% of national cancer funding is allocated to childhood cancer.  So on September 15th, you’ll learn why thousands of families will come to Washington DC for CureFest, taking place on September 17 and 18.

CureFest’s mission is to make childhood cancer research a national priority by uniting the childhood cancer community, the general public, the medical community and our elected leaders. Until recently the childhood cancer community has struggled to find its voice because there are thousands of foundations and groups spread out across the country. Now, these organizations are coming together at our National Mall to celebrate many great success stories, but also remind people of the fact that there is a plenty of work left to do.

Thanks to the dedication of doctors, brave patients and the work of organizations like the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorder service the cure rate for childhood cancer’s is now almost 90 percent, up from only 20 percent.

Your audience will hear an inspiring message from Caroline Belcher, a brave seven year old battling a brian tumor, her mom and a Curefest organizer Emily Belcher and Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications at Aflac, Catherine Blades. One of the primary goals of CureFest is to educate the public about the challenge of curing childhood cancer and what the public can do to help. We hope you’ll find time for this inspiring story!
