09/27 Thomas J. Craughwell, CLAIRE ROBINSON, Maitre D Rueben Castro

Thomas J. Craughwell   "Thomas Jefferson’s Crème Brûlée"

Thomas J. Craughwell is the author of several nonfiction books, including  Stealing Lincoln’s Body (Harvard University Press, 2007), which was  adapted into a documentary by the History Channel. He lives in Bethel,  Connecticut. . In his current book Craughwell explores Thomas Jefferon's fascination with bringing french cooking to America.

In 1784, Thomas Jefferson struck a deal with one of his slaves, 19-year-old  James Hemings. The founding Father was traveling to Paris and wanted to bring  James along “for a particular purpose” – to master the art of French cooking. In  exchange for James’s cooperation, Jefferson would grant his freedom. Thus began one of the strangest partnerships in U.S. history. As James  apprenticed under master French chefs, Jefferson studied the cultivation of  French crops (especially grapes for winemaking) so the might be replicated in  American agriculture. The two men returned home with such marvels as pasta,  French fries, champagne, macaroni and cheese, crème brûlée, and a host of  other treats. This narrative nonfiction book tells the fascinating story behind  their remarkable adventure – and includes 12 of their original recipes!

CLAIRE ROBINSON - "5 INGREDIENT FIX"  FOOD NETWORK

Claire Robinson combines her passions for food and television in 5  Ingredient Fix, a Food Network series featuring delicious eclectic recipes  made with five ingredients or fewer. She believes the best dishes feature  carefully selected fresh foods with distinct flavors and a straightforward  cooking style that also promotes healthy and seasonal eating. Claire also joined  Food Network’s prime time lineup as the host of Food Network Challenge (as  of April 2010), bringing her culinary knowledge and passion for the iconic show  to its brand-new set and providing minute-by-minute details of the thrilling  challenges. With a multi ethnic background, Claire cites her French-speaking grandmother  as a major influence on her love for food, a joy passed on through many  generations. Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Claire (and her family) spent time in  St. Augustine, Fla.; Houston; and New Orleans, but ultimately settled in  Memphis, Tenn.

One Man’s  Adventures Hunting Invasive Animal Species: He teaches hunting  workshops across the United States, has been featured in the Huffington Post and  The New York Times, and is the subject of a documentary entitled Close to the  Bone. He lives in Virginia.
In EATING ALIENS,  Landers shares his entertaining, eco-conscious tales of tracking down invasive  aliens from Florida to Connecticut and the Caribbean to the Texas Hill Country.   At once a romping narrative and a call to action, these gripping stories examine the damage being done by these animals, the challenges of hunting them, and the  opportunities to create appetizing meals from their bounty. Feeding people while  helping protect and conserve the natural environment, all while enjoying the  excitement of the hunt: More and more non-native  species are invading our local environments, and there is a real need to manage  the populations of these invasive animals. In EATING ALIENS, Jackson Landers  takes readers on a wild ride as he hunts and eats such creatures as Asian carp,  boar, nutria, European green crabs, Chinese mystery snails, and more. With his  personal narrative driving the story, the hunt becomes more than one man’s  desire to catch and kill prey and evolves into a very real solution to restoring  the eco-balance across the western hemisphere.

09/13 IIIZA SHIESINGER, Dandy Dons Ice Cream, Kareem Abdul Jabbar

IIIZA SHIESINGER HOST OF CBS "EXCUSED"

Entering its sophomore season, EXCUSED is the half-hour syndicated dating reality show from the same producers of the long running hit syndicated series, “Blind Date.” Hosted by comedian Iliza Shlesinger, who won the sixth season of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” EXCUSED offers a fresh take on the dating scene, mining the comedy that traditionally comes with relationships. Since its debut last Fall, the show revitalized the 30-minute syndicated dating show format, ushering in a wave of new comedy-based dating series. With all the options out there these days, finding love can be difficult. The perfect princess can quickly turn into a drama queen….while Mr. Right turns into Mr. Please Stop Texting Me. EXCUSED is here to help. Set in a Hollywood home, each episode follows a group of men competing for the affections of two women (or vice versa). Based on first impressions, personality profiles and intimate dates, the pair of women systematically eliminates the group of men down to one. The final man standing will have the opportunity to select the woman he wants to date and ultimately, one final couple has the chance for love.

Dandy Don – Dandy Dons Ice Cream

Don Whittemore is a funny man with a huge personality who loves to make people happy. Good thing he makes ice cream, huh? Once Upon A Time (circa 1962 – 67), Don was a stand-up comedian. He worked under the name Don Harris in Atlanta, Miami Beach & Newport, KY. (Check out his snazzy tux in this ancient head shot.) If you have some free time one day, ask him to tell you some jokes. The next part of this biography starts just after that but still long long ago, in the Time Before CDs. Don was in the record business. He convinced DJs to play records by Frank Sinatra, Elvis, The Beatles, David Bowie, and Cat Stevens (to name a few). Some of those records went gold. Here’s a photo of him with New York disc jockeys Wolfman Jack (on the left) and Murray The K (center). In the late ’70s, Don decided to leave the record business for good. Too much temptation for a family man, he thought. And too few creative DJs. In 1981 Don and his lovely wife Linda (pregnant with their second child) bought an ice cream shop in Tarzana, California called The Creamery. They thought it would be a gold mine. They were wrong. So they worked their keesters off, got into the wholesale business, and began a catering division. These are photos of Don (photo on the left, 3rd from the left) and Linda (photo on the right) at one of their first hot fudge sundae bar catering gigs at the Directors’ Guild of America. This is how the catering division of their company—now with over 1,000 customers—got its start. They no longer have The Creamery, or any retail shop. But they have begun putting their homemade ice cream into pints, so once again regular folks can buy their product retail. Funny how things come full circle, even if they do take 20+ years. Don’s favorite part of doing business is dealing with people. He loves talking to his clients, making ice cream with them, and helping them promote their businesses. He loves selling his ice cream to new clients, finding out what they want, tempting them with great service. He just loves people. And he loves making people happy. Good thing he makes great ice cream.

Gelman, an Upright Citizens Brigade regular, is currently co-starring in Adult Swim’s “Eagleheart.” He has appeared in “The Other Guys,” directed by Adam McKay, and both seasons of “Funny or Dies Presents.” Additional credits include a guest starring role on “The League,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Bored to Death.” GO ON Tuesdays (9-9:30 p.m. ET) on NBC He's back, and better than ever! Matthew Perry ("Friends," "Mr. Sunshine") stars as Ryan King, a recent widower and sports talk radio host ready to get back to work after the loss of his wife. Ryan's alpha-male boss, Stephen, played by John Cho ( "Star Trek," "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle"), has a different plan in store for Ryan, making him attend grief counseling before returning to the air. A reluctant Ryan finds himself in a support group for "life change" where he meets an oddball cast of characters all with their own backstories filled with varying degrees of loss. On his very first visit, Ryan convinces the group to deviate from their normal session and starts a tournament-style competition (March Sadness!) to find out whose story is the worst. Ryan’s total lack of interest in "the healing process" proves distracting and he soon butts heads with the by-the-books group leader, Lauren, played by Tony Award-Winner Laura Benanti ("The Playboy Club"). Back at work, Ryan is confronted with the fact that he hasn't really processed his grief and realizes Lauren and the other members of the group might be key in helping him move on. Also starring are Tony Award-Winner Julie White (“Transformers”) as Anne, Bill Cobbs ("The Muppets," "Night at the Museum") as George and Suzy Nakamura (“Dodgeball”) as Yolanda.

COLTON DIXON - AMERICAN IDOL 2012 TOUR

BREAKING NEWS - JUST SIGNED BY RECORD COMPANY! He is a devout Christian, and has sung at several worship services and is part of a Christian rock band called Messenger. Colton Dixon (born on October 19, 1991) is an American singer from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He placed seventh on the eleventh season of American Idol . Colton Dixon originally auditioned in the tenth season, along with his sister Schyler, at the Nashville auditions. However, neither of them ended up in the Top 24..Dixon performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on March 3, 2011. Dixon returned in season 11, however he did not plan to audition, initially planning to merely accompany his sister Schyler to her audition. The judges implored Dixon to audition as well, where he sang David Cook's "Permanent". Both he and Schyler were awarded golden tickets. Schyler was cut yet again during the Las Vegas round, which brought him to tears. On his final judgement performance, Dixon performed Coldplay's "Fix You" and dedicated it to his sister, Schyler. On February 23, 2012, Dixon was placed in the season 11 Top 25. In the semi-finals, he performed Paramore's "Decode". He was one of the top five male vote getters and advanced into the Top 13. Guest performer on the Top 13 Results night and runner-up of American Idolseason 10Lauren Alaina named Dixon and fellow contestant Jessica Sanchez as her two favorites to win the competition. His elimination on April 19, 2012 was considered a big surprise because he had never been in the bottom three.
