Dan Berger - Wine Columnist
Dan Berger has been a wine columnist since 1976 and has resided in Sonoma County since 1986. Today, in addition to his privately published weekly wine commentary, Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences, Dan writes a nationally syndicated wine column for Creators Syndicate as well as articles for Decanter, Robb Report, Cheers, Beverage Dynamics, and numerous other publications.Mr. Berger was the full-time wine columnist and reporter for the Los Angeles Times from 1988 to 1996. His Los Angeles Times column was carried nationally by the Los Angeles Times-Washington Post News Service. During that time, he commuted from Sonoma County to Los Angeles, so he could maintain his residence and affiliations in wine country.

Robert Small, Ph.D
Dr. Robert Small is a professor at the Collins College of Hospitality Management at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Dr. Small served as the head of the Hospitality Management Program from 1987 until 1994 and became the founding Dean when the Program achieved independent School status in 1991. Dr. Small returned to the faculty from 1995 until June, 2004 when he was reappointed as dean. Dr. Small taught courses on food and beverage management and wines, spirits, and beers.

In 1975, the Napa Valley Grape Growers Association was organized and today both growers and vintners join forces on projects of common interest, devoting much of their time to an active marketing program. A new chapter in Napa Valley's history was opened in 1981, when the first Napa Valley Wine Auction was sponsored at Meadowood resort. Over the years, this NVV-sponsored celebration of Napa Valley wine and food has become the "world's most successful" charity wine event, drawing participants from around the globe. From this, the NVV has given $85 million to local health care, youth programs and affordable housing since 1981. Today, Napa Valley is home to approximately 325 wineries and numerous more brands. Its growers and vintners combine cutting-edge science with traditional techniques, and its reputation for producing world-class wines is firmly established in an ever-growing global market.
