Dan Cathy - Pres and COO - Chic-fil-A 1430 Locations / 38 States
Cow appreciation day Tomorrow July 10 - Anyone who is not "too chicken" to wear a cow suit to a local Chick-fil-A®, will receive a free sandwich. Past Appreciation Days have produced plenty of fun, such as the 350 cow-spotted customers who came out in Hendersonville, N.C, to a cattle drive that had a group of ambitious college students visiting more than 30 restaurants in one day. As president of one of the nation's largest family owned businesses, Dan Cathy represents the next generation of leadership for the Atlanta-based quickservice
chicken restaurant chain founded by his father, S. Truett Cathy. Eager to incorporate his own skills and talents into the business, Dan has taken an unconventional, yet personally and professionally rewarding approach to Chick-fil-A leadership. Since 2001, Dan has served as the president and chief operating officer of Chick-fil-A,
Inc., and he has personally challenged himself with upholding Chick-fil-A’s efforts to provide genuine, heartfelt hospitality, and ensuring that customers have an exceptional dining experience when visiting a Chick-fil-A Restaurant. In his quest to provide customers with “2nd Mile Service" (exceeding even the highest expectations of a typical fast-food restaurant), Dan has defined a special role for himself – humbly saying, “I work in customer service.” Rather than leading from his corporate office in Atlanta, Dan chooses to spend the
majority of his time traveling to the chain’s growing family of Restaurants and interacting with Chick-fil-A’s committed team of Restaurant Operators and team members. His actions stem from a belief that working in the field provides a clearer understanding of the ever-evolving wants and needs of Chick-fil-A customers, and
leading from the front line also enables him to personally convey his servant spirit across the chain.

Richardson's Ice Cream - Middleton, MA
We’re an ice cream stand with our own dairy farm. Countless folks see a cow for the first time when visiting us. Operating and serving generations makes us a permanent New England destination. Customers who discovered us as children relive the nostalgia and continue the tradition today by bringing their children and grandchildren. The Richardson's came to America in 1636, after having been farmers in England. They first stopped in Charlestown and then helped settle land pasture in Woburn. By 1695, David Richardson moved from Woburn to Salem Village, which is now part of Middleton Massachusetts. David started Richardson's farm as it is known today: the Richardson's have milked cows in Middleton every day since his arrival (more than 300 years or 109,500 days straight). For the first few generations in Middleton, the Richardson's were most subsistence farmers: milking cows, raising chickens, vegetables and any other food needed to sustain the family through their normal daily activities. By 1900, the farm began growing with more and more cows. Hazen K Richardson was in charge. With his two sons, Ben and Hazen M, they started bottling, selling and distributing milk in 1917. The farm expanded to over 1,000 cows by 1934. In 1952, Ben and Hazen Richardson set out to make “One Perfect Ice Cream.” A decade later, our ice cream stand became a local favorite with over 50 flavors to choose from (a remarkable achievement at the time). Branching Out In 1978, we launched our wholesale business, delivering our ice cream to other dairy stands, grocery stores and restaurants throughout New England.

Al Martino - "Trying to Find My Way" Italian Legend talks about his favorite places to eat.
Al Martino, born Alfred Cini, made his singing debut over 40 years ago in Philadelphia with the song Here In My Heart. What a debut it was! The title instantaneously sold over one million copies. With this ballad, Mr. Martino became the first American artist to hit number one in the British "single" charts during 1952, consequently putting him into the Guinness Book of World Records. How did this landslide breakthrough occur? In his earlier years, Martino worked hard in the family's construction business, but in the evenings, he used what little free time he had, to perform in clubs and bars of his neighborhood. It wasn't until Mario Lanza, already a celebrity at the time (and friend of the family), encouraged young Martino to pursue a musical career, and to move to New York. By 1950, Martino landed a much sought-after record deal with Capitol Records, after winning the first prize in Arthur Godfrey's "Talent Scout Show." When Lanza was approached by Capitol to sing Here In My Heart, time constraints on his schedule provided the opportunity for newcomer Al Martino to step in and sing the song. Martino has also proven himself to be taken seriously as a film actor. In 1972, he played that much sought-after role of Johnny Fontane in Frances Ford Coppola's epic film The Godfather. Thus, he gained the respect of his fellow actors, including Marlon Brando and Robert Duvall. Martino also sang the film's title score, The Love Theme From The Godfather.

Chef Kevin Roberts - 4th of July Barbecues (wrap on weekend happenings)
It's definitely cool to know how to cook. First of all, it automatically defines you as a independent person. Nobody likes a person that can't fend for themselves. Second, the opposite sex finds it very sexy. Trust me on this one, I know. If you don't, I suggest you move back in with your parents and start collecting government checks.

Reno Collier - Host - NBC's "The Great American Road Trip"
A former physical education teacher, West Virginia native Reno Collier has endeared himself to a wide range of audiences from college students to church softball teams. With a contagious laugh and friendly, almost intoxicating demeanor, Collier’s observations often find him recalling mishaps of his West Virginia cousins, his Scottish heritage, unruly in-laws and even alien abductions. Collier’s journey began at the Punchline Comedy Club in Atlanta, Georgia, where he tended bar to supplement his day job. One night he found himself on stage during the weekly open mike night. His unique outlook on life - mixed with a six-pack -- was instantly popular and provided a platform to launch a career as a comedian. In addition, Collier has built a reputation by selling out comedy clubs and colleges nationwide. In 2004 he joined Larry The Cable Guy on the hugely successful “2004 Tour of America.” Collier's other national tours look more like a comedian's wish-list than a resume, including theater and arena tours with the legendary Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Engvall. In January 2007, he re-joined Larry the Cable Guy for his wildly successful arena tour currently spanning the United States and Canada. Collier’s past TV credits include “Late Friday,” “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher,” “The Martin Short Show,” “The List” and “Premium Blend.” In 2005 and 2006, Collier headlined the “Comics on Duty” tour for American troops stationed in Iraq. He is a regular fixture on the "Bob & Tom" syndicated radio show and Country Music Television (CMT), where he hosts various specials for the network. He has performed at the prestigious HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado and the Montreal Comedy Festival. In 2005, he taped his own “Comedy Central Presents” half-hour special. He can currently be heard during his weekly call-ins to the Blue Collar Comedy Channel on Sirius Satellite Radio.

From an Indian reservation all the way to the finest, five-star restaurant, Chef Paul learned to love, appreciate and blend the flavors of his younger years with those of many other cultures. In July 1979, K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen® opened its doors in New Orleans. In only a few years, his French Quarter restaurant attracted world travelers and continues to excite diners today. Diners are especially pleased to learn that K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen now takes reservations. Renovations were completed at the restaurant at the end of 1996 doubling the seating capacity. Today, K-Paul’s Catering division satisfies palates in New Orleans and “anywhere on the planet!”As a result of endless requests for his seasoning secrets, Prudhomme created his own line of all natural (Kosher supervised) herbs and spices. Today, Chef Paul Prudhomme’s Magic Seasoning Blends® are distributed in all fifty states and in more than 25 other countries. His blends are popular with both home cooks and professional chefs. In addition, Chef Paul produces his own seasoned and smoked meat s (andouille and tasso). All are available through Magic Seasonings’ Mail-Order catalog, which also features cookbooks, giftpacks and cooking tips (online atwww.chefpaul.com ).Chef Paul recently added Magic Salt Free Seasoning®, Salmon Magic®, Shrimp Magic® and Sweetie Magic™ to his dry seasoning line and developed a line of sauces-marinades for retail and institutional use. He expanded manufacturing capabilities to a 130,000 square-foot plant which now produces custom blends, bulk sizes and contract packing for other food companies at Chef Paul’s AIB approved New Orleans area plant. Chef Paul consults with restaurant chains and large food manufacturers around the world to develop complete menus or selective menu items and specialty dishes. He and his Product Development team and R&D Kitchen can also create specific flavor profiles or duplicate existing ones.As one of America’s best-known chefs, Prudhomme has been featured often on the three major television networks’ prime time programs. He has made guest appearances on NBC’s Today Show, ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, 20/20, Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, Late Night with David Letterman, NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, Larry King Live, Nightwatch with Charlie Rose, the QVC Shopping Channel, CBS Early Show and the Weekend Today Show.

Chef Kevin Roberts - 4th of July Barbecues

It's definitely cool to know how to cook. First of all, it automatically defines you as a independent person. Nobody likes a person that can't fend for themselves. Second, the opposite sex finds it very sexy. Trust me on this one, I know. If you don't, I suggest you move back in with your parents and start collecting government checks.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA - July 4, 1776

So fly the Old Glory on Saturday. Enjoy the holiday, which is truly a living miracle. Although in 2009 we have myriad choices for observing this special day, John Adams -- who would become our second president -- had some lofty ideas on how to celebrate the event. In a July 3, 1776, letter to his wife, Abigail, President Adams wrote: "...I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great Anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp, shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of the continent to the other, from this time forward forever." Thanks for the advice, Mr. President. You were indeed prophetic.
