03/02 SARAH SPAGNOLO, FOURSQUARE, THE ‘TASTES’ THAT MAKE THE CITY, MORGEN MCLAUGHLIN, SANTA BARBARA VINTNERS

SARAH SPAGNOLO – EDITOR-AT-LARGE, FOURSQUARE - THE ‘TASTES’ THAT MAKE THE CITY! NEW YORK AND SAN FRANSISCO

With San Francisco and New York 3,000 miles apart, these two cities couldn’t feel more different – and it’s not just weather as the key differentiator.  The Foursquare data team has uncovered 50 trending tastes in both markets – "The Tastes that Make the City".  “Tastes” are food, drinks, atmospheres, etc around each city!

New Yorkers and San Franciscans both love feasting on burgers, but while NY prefers the Black Label Burger at Minetta Tavern, SF loves the wood grilled hamburger that can be found at Nopa.  There’s also a bunch of tastes that are unique to each city— New York loves cold brew coffee from Little Brew, while San Francisco loves drip coffee from Blue Bottle Coffee.

More about Foursquare
Foursquare has learned a lot over the past few years about cities across the globe, with over 6 billion check-ins and 70 million tips from more than 50 million people using Foursquare each month. It’s what Foursquare has done with this data that makes us unique – they’ve developed an algorithm so that when you search for and explore new places, they deliver personalized recommendations – places Foursquare knows users will love based on their tastes.
