Phillip Lemarque - "Besteatz" No one knows what to do
After talking to several restaurants owners about the down economy and what to do about it to stay above water. I am convinced that nobody knows what to do.Some mention word of mouth as a solution to their lack of guests????How do they expect to increase their business with the word of mouth if less people come to visit their restaurant? That is completely idiotic if you ask me.Most restaurant owners commit the usual stupid mistake — no money spend to promote oneself. If you will mot spend any money to promote your business who will? If you do not have confidence in your business it is time to bail out. Do it now before loosing more money. In a down economy this is where you spend more money to promote your business. If the money is short as it probably should be, since business is down. Do not cut on the quality, start rolling your sleeves up and work in your business.1.Walk up and down your neighborhood, invite local business owners and their employees for a glass of wine and an appetizer.2.Deliver free lunches to a local business [pick a different one every day]3.Place fliers on people doors (within 1 mile from your location)4.To your guests offer a free dessert or a free appetizer for the table5.For every guest that patronize your establishment make them your sales rep. Give them a gift certificate (discounted by whatever amount you feel – 20 to 50% will work best) to offer to friend and family members6.Think of something NEW that you might be able to implement. In the worst situations creativity comes to the rescue. Go and see what your competition is doing. If they do nothing, so much the better for you. Whatever it is DO SOMETHING, something different.
