What's Cookin' Today

Author Toni Lydecker Talks To Us About His Newest Book "Piatto Unico" And The Well-Balanced Delicious Recipes It Contains

More than just another Italian cookbook, Piatto Unico lends itself well to a discussion about eating a delicious, well-balanced meal in only one course, and the recipes are perfectly suited to today's time-crunched lifestyles. From a bowl of creamy polenta, rich with cheese and earthy sautéed mushrooms; to fresh pasta tossed with leeks, shrimp, and a crispy prosciutto; to a vegetable-based casserole of baked zucchini stuffed with farro, walnuts, and tangy goat cheese--the delicious meals offer both new takes on Italian cuisine and the comfortably traditional.

Here To Tell Us All About "Live In The Vineyard", Is Executive Chef, Lisa Stalvey

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, one of the highlights of this amazing culinary experience is that Live in the Vineyard executive chef Lisa Stalvey will treat guests to a delicious menu featuring select superfoods studied by City of Hope including blueberries, pomegranates and white button mushrooms.

Comedians and Food Lovers Mike Faverman & Pat Mac Tells Us All About Cooking Live at the CA RV Show

Camping is one of America’s favorite past-times, a time to relax and let go of the stresses that life dishes out. Many people think of an excursion into the forest as “roughing it,” of leaving the comforts of civilization behind. While ditching the big screen TV back home is part of the camping experience, ULTIMATE CAMP COOKING leaves the hot dogs and freeze-dried pouches of powder behind as well in exchange for the choicest cuts of meat, the freshest vegetables and the most scrumptious fish. The good life, filled with mouth-wateringly delicious dishes prepared by the funniest chefs around!

Comedians Mike Faverman and Pat Mac venture into campgrounds around North America to cook gourmet meals for total strangers who become “cast members” and a live “audience” for the humorous chefs as they trade banter, cooking techniques and tips, and rec ipe favorites. Mike and Pat share their knowledge and obvious love of food, creating a warm festive atmosphere for everyone to come together like a big family. Food and laughter, memories and friends…the ingredients to a happy life.

Mike and Pat inspire and encourage the “cast” to cook a dish of their own to share with the group. As a result, the meals turn into banquets fit for royalty, with enough leftovers for the occasional wildlife to stumble upon and enjoy too. Ultimate Camp Cooking’s mission is to spark participation and create a family style atmosphere between these former strangers, to have them share the recipes learned and loved throughout their lives.

What's Cookin' Today

James Roday & Dulé Hill, Stars from the hit TV Show PSYCHED, Are Talking With Us About The Sixth Season and How These Two Are Keeping Busy When They're Not On TV

With nearly two million Facebook fans, Psych stars James Roday as police consultant Shawn Spencer who solves crimes with powers of observation so acute the precinct detectives think he's psychic. With help from his best friend and reluctant sidekick, Gus (Dulé Hill) and his father, Henry (Corbin Bernsen), they continue to solve the mysterious and often bizarre crimes of the Santa Barbara Police Department. Also starring Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson and Kirsten Nelson.

Dule Hill (The West Wing) will be seen in two upcoming new films and James Roday (Dukes of Hazzard) has stepped behind to camera to direct and star in a movie of his own making. Together, they are an unusual crime solving duo in the cult hit series “Psych.” This season features a diverse line up of guest stars making a quirky appearance – from William Shatner, and Danny Glover to Molly Ringwald and Wade Boggs. Please let me know if you’d like to talk with Dule Hill and James Roday on Monday, October 10th. Thanks,

Best known for his work as Charlie Young on “The West Wing,” Dulé Hill first came to prominence as The Kid opposite Savion Glover and Jeffrey Wright in "Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk." He’s appeared on Broadway and has many theatrical credits to his name.

James Roday began his career studying theatre at New York University's Experimental Theatre Wing and graduated with a degree in fine arts. In addition to acting, Roday and his writing partners, wrote the screenplay for the LionsGate Film "Skinwalkers." Roday also co-wrote both the PSYCH season one and two finales as well as several episodes of seasons three through six, in addition to directing a few of them.

Sam Nelson, Grandson To TV Legends Ozzie And Harriet Nelson Is Sharing With Us What It's Like Digitizing His Grandparents' Classic Show And The Development of The TV Documentary for “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet”

Millions of people have been influenced, directly or indirectly, by “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet” television show, which ran from October 3, 1952 to September 3, 1966. Now the grandson of Ozzie and Harriet Nelson and son of Ricky Nelson plans to rejuvenate an interest in those vintage shows.

Sam Nelson was granted access to the family archives following the death of his uncle, David Nelson, six months ago. The archives, which haven’t been opened in almost 45 years, have produced hundreds of hours of film from the vaults as well as actors, musicians, producers and others involved with the show talking about the series and its impact on them and American culture. Also in the vaults were the original radio shows that sparked the television series.

“The Adventures Of Ozzie And Harriet” is one of the first and most influential family situation comedies in the history of television. Starring Ozzie, Harriet, David and Rick Nelson, the series featured a real life family portraying fictional versions of the family. It could be called the first reality show on TV! Every week viewers went into the home of the Nelson’s and watched the family experience every-day life and the growing pains of David and Rick, along with their parents, through light hearted comedic adventures. Indeed, America tuned in and grew up with the Nelson’s, known as America’s Favorite Family.

Nelson, the youngest grandson of Ozzie and Harriet Nelson and son of Ricky Nelson, is a graduate of Boston College. After graduation he returned to California, where he worked for MCA Records and EMI Capitol Records, working with artists including Merle Haggard, Duran Duran, Megadeth, Blondie, N.E.R.D, Lenny Kravitz and Glen Campbell. He also spearheaded the successful effort for radio DJ Rodney "on the Roq" Bingenheimer to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. While his main goal is brand and estate management, he also performs and produces music with his rock band, H is Orange.

Executive Director Of The Soyfoods Council, Linda Funk, Talks To Us About The Healthy and Fun Soy Alternatives For This Halloween Season!

Halloween parties offer the perfect opportunity to enjoy autumn-inspired soyfoods recipes. Seasonal ideas from The Soyfoods Council include a variety of healthful, protein-rich ingredients in recipes that kids love. Parents love soyfoods, too, because each serving offers 7 to 15 grams of high-quality protein, low in saturated fat. For a snack the whole family can enjoy, consider Chocolate-covered “Soy-Prize.” With just three ingredients—soynut butter, semi-sweet dark chocolate, and frozen shelled edamame (fresh soybeans) that have been cooked and cooled—this is an easy-to-make treat. Edamame are threaded onto bamboo skewers and then dipped into melted soynut butter and melted chocolate. Black Soybean Dip for chips, crackers or pita is a quick and convenient recipe that starts with canned black soybeans and canned tan soybeans.

For other dip ideas, check out the Soyfoods Council recipe brochure, 50 Kid-Friendly Ideas Featuring Soyfoods. It’s available on the Soyfoods Council website. Without pumpkins, it wouldn’t be Halloween. That’s why the Soyfoods Council offers recipes such as Pumpkin Tofu Cheesecake. This dessert is a graham cracker crust specialty featuring silken tofu, fresh or canned pumpkin, and soy cream cheese.

Meat Supplier Prescott Frost Talks To Us About Why His 100% Grass Fed Beef Beats Out The Competion!

Move over Old MacDonald, there’s a new rancher in town who doesn’t believe in following the herd – and he’s pretty darn good looking too! Prescott Frost, great-grandson of American poet, Robert Frost, is the newly-iconic staple for wholesome American living and eating. Prescott is a maverick in producing healthy, sustainable and delicious grass-fed meat from his ranch in the rolling hills of Nebraska, and he’s also a passionate poet with a storied heritage and love for the land.

Prescott Frost’s cows roam free in the country sunshine of a 20,000 square-male ecosystem where more than 700 species of organic grasses and herbs, like clover, alfalfa, fescue and wild onions and legumes grow. This natural setting gives the cattle all the nutrients they need to grow fat, happy and strong -- which means the beef from his cattle taste pure and clean with a robustly beefy flavor.

Prescott Frost beef is leaner than what comes from CAFOs…Frost’s beef has 10 times more beta-carotene than factory beef, and three times more vitamin E, Omega-3 fatty acids and healthy fats…It’s healthier because the cows are healthier, plain and simple. No hormones. No antibiotics. Just pure, fresh, organic, grass-fed beef.

All Prescott Frost beef is dry-aged for 14 days in an environment where the temperature, humidity and ventilation are carefully controlled. This Old World method naturally tenderizes the meat and removes excess moisture to deepen its rich, beefy flavor. Each cut—from the filet mignon, to the rib eye steak, to the New York strip—is succulent, tender and delicious.

Other Prescott Frost meat options include grass-fed, grass-finished steaks, burgers and hotdogs. Their hotdogs and ground beef are nitrate-free, all natural and the most sustainable cuts available. When eating any Prescott Frost meat, you always know that you are eating American grown, Murray Grey cattle. Frost is available to discuss his the ways his grass-fed cattle can nurture our environment, and the health of carnivores, across the U.S. His website is www.PrescottFrost.com.
