For many Americans, a cornerstone of summertime is the BBQ!  This year, The United Service Organization (USO) is launching of an exciting new grassroots fundraising campaign called Barbecue for the Troops.  Running from memorial Day through Labor Day, this grassroots fundraising campaign encourages communities across the country to host barbecues and raise funds for USO programs and services for deployed troops, ill, wounded or injured troops, their caregivers, as well as the families of the fallen.  Barbecue for the Troops offers a fun fundraising platform for people looking to make a meaningful impact to those who serve all while enjoying the time-honored summer tradition: barbecue!

Chef Jennifer Behm, owner of Pink Martini Catering in Delaware and the winner of the second season of TV’s MasterChef knows firsthand the importance of the USO: her grandfather was a paratrooper in the Army during World War II and her brother, Tech. Sgt. Joshua Behm, is active duty Air Force and a recent recipient of the prestigious Col. Billy Jack Carter Award.  Chef Behm and Sloan Gibson, the President of the USO are available for interview to reveal more about the Barbecue for the Troops campaign, how your viewers can get involved in YOUR community, as well as provide some BBQ recipes and tips!
