Jobs are scarce. Employer-sponsored heath care is ebbing. And 3 million new college grads are trying to enter the work force this summer. What’s a sorority sister to do? Sticking with a parent’s health plan is now an option under the law – but a surprising number of parents (especially those nearing retirement age) don’t want the extra expense. In fact, a new Parents Survey on students and recent grads has some surprising results – including that a majority of grads would rather live at home with mom and dad than on their own and uninsured; yet half of all parents asked won’t keep their kids on their plan for more than a year, IF at all; and my personal favorite – 90-percent of grads say they would be more attracted to a potential suitor, if that person had health insurance.

Consumer specialist with eHealthInsurance, Carrie Mclean, discussus the results of the new Parents Survey**. And, offers tips on health insurance options for parents and their new grads or current students, so they don’t get stuck with stuck with serious medical expenses in case of injury or hospitalization. Plus, many people don’t realize there are scenarios when it’s not the best option to be on mom or dad’s plan.
