Erica Cohen /Lori Barbera "BABY'S BADASS BURGERS"
Baby's Badass Burgers sprang from the imaginations and experiences of ex-New Yorker restaurateur Erica Cohen and celebrated event planner Lori Barbera . Cohen launched her career in the restaurant world as one of the founding partners in the first of The ONE Group's many restaurants, for whom Barbera serves as Los Angeles Events Director as well as an investor. Cohen, a passionate foodie and burgermeister at heart who had "been searching for the perfect, quintessential cheeseburger since [she] was a little girl," decided that in order to satiate her quest she would have to create her own flawless burger: the Simple Original Beauty on the BBB menu.

Woodstock Country Inn - Woodstock NY OWNER Carol Wandry
Two miles from the center of the renowned artist colony of Woodstock, New York, a long driveway off a peaceful country road leads you to the grace and charm of the Woodstock Country Inn. Set amidst acres of rolling meadows, woods and the Catskill Mountains, this island of tranquility offers swimming, hiking, cross-country trails, nearby skiing at Hunter, Windham, and Belleayre Mountains, and quality country comfort. Historic Artist's Home - Built as the home of Woodstock artist Jo Cantine, the house and magnificent setting reflect the artist's creativity and appreciation of nature. Great windows and doors were abundantly placed to capture the shimmering light and natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains. Cantine lived to be 94 and enjoyed a successful career, with shows at prestigious New York City galleries and museums, and a painting in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Several of her luminous paintings, and her hand-painted furniture are displayed in the common room and bedrooms of the bed and breakfast. The Woodstock Country Inn was established in 1987. Renovations were made with a desire to allow for maximum privacy and comfort for guests, while maintaining the charm and ambiance of a 19th Century farmhouse. The heated in-ground pool is set in a wildflower meadow overlooking mountain views and is open from May to October. The pool uses a salt water filtration system, eliminating the need for chlorine or any other harsh chemicals. Adirondack chairs and hammocks are strategically placed for optimum relaxation and meditation.
The Inn is ideally located only 2 miles from the shops, galleries and music of Woodstock, a short hike to Cooper Lake, and less than a mile to the Bear Cafe and Bearsville Theater. Hiking and cross-country ski trails, antique shops, and fabulous restaurants are all only minutes away. Nearby activities also include road and trail biking, apple picking, tubing, canoeing, horseback riding, boat rides on the Hudson River, tennis and golf. Four ski centers (including Hunter Mountain) are close . 845 679 9380

Woodstock Music & Art Fair (informally, Woodstock or The Woodstock Festival) was a music festival, billed as "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music", held at Max Yasgur's 600 acre (2.4 km²; 240 ha, 0.94 mi²) dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York from August 15 to August 18, 1969. Bethel, in Sullivan County, is 43 miles (69 km) southwest of the town of Woodstock, New York, in adjoining Ulster County. During the sometimes rainy weekend, thirty-two acts performed outdoors in front of 300,000 concert-goers. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most pivotal moments in popular music history and was listed on Rolling Stone's 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll. The event was captured in the successful 1970 documentary movie Woodstock, an accompanying soundtrack album, and Joni Mitchell's song "Woodstock" which commemorated the event and became a major hit for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

Dottie Jordan Pres & CEO Virginia Peninsula C of C Newport News, VA
Newport News is an independent city in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. It is at the south-western end of the Virginia Peninsula, on the north shore of the James River extending southeast from Skiffe's Creek along many miles of waterfront to the river's mouth at Newport News Point on the harbor of Hampton Roads. The area known as Newport News was part of Warwick County, one of the eight original shires of Virginia formed by the House of Burgesses in the British Colony of Virginia by order of King Charles I in 1634. The county was largely composed of farms and undeveloped land until almost 250 years later. In 1881, 15 years of explosive development began under the leadership of Collis P. Huntington, whose new Peninsula Extension of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway from Richmond opened up transportation along the Peninsula and provided a new pathway for the railroad to bring West Virginia bituminous coal to port for coastal shipping and worldwide export. With the new railroad came a terminal and coal piers where the colliers were loaded. Within a few years, Huntington and his associates also built a large shipyard.

Celebrity Chef Roy Yamaguchi - Roy's Los Angeles
Based on childhood memories of the feelings and flavors of Hawaii, Roy invented what he refers to as “Hawaiian Fusion® Cuisine” — a tempting combination of exotic flavors and spices mixed with the freshest of local ingredients, always with an emphasis on seafood. Born in Tokyo, Yamaguchi vividly recalls visits with his grandparents to Maui, where he had his first tastes of fish, crab, octopus and lobster bought fresh at oceanside piers. Thusly inspired, he graduated the Culinary Institute of America in New York at the age of 19, where, after several years of intense training, he became a Master Chef. Thoroughly imbued by this discipline, Roy found the confidence to tackle his first experience as executive chef at Le Serene in Los Angeles in 1979. This was followed by a few memorable months at the eternally posh Michael's in Santa Monica, working for California Cuisine originator Michael McCarty. In 1984, he opened his own restaurant in Los Angeles called 385 North. However, the desire to further expand his culinary horizons while getting closer to his roots led Yamaguchi to move to Hawaii in 1988 and open Roy’s. Soon after the original Roy’s opened in Honolulu, Food & Wine Magazine dubbed it the "crown jewel of Honolulu's East-West eateries," and it was named one of Conde Nast Traveler's "Top 50." Gourmet acknowledged Yamaguchi as "the father of modern East-West cooking" while the New York Times described him as "the Wolfgang Puck of the Pacific." Yamaguchi is now regarded as a pioneer who mastered a distinctive style, which brought his cooking to the forefront of contemporary gastronomy. As testimony to his success, there are now 35 Roy’s, including 26 in the Continental US, 7 in Hawaii, 1 in Japan and 1 in Guam. Honored early in his career with the prestigious James Beard "Best Pacific Northwest Chef" award, Yamaguchi has hosted six seasons of the PBS-TV show, Hawaii Cooks with Roy Yamaguchi seen on more than 300 stations in all 50 states, as well as in over 60 countries. Equally notable, he was a featured chef on the acclaimed TV Food Network program, My Country, My Kitchen which takes viewers back to his roots in Japan.
Yamaguchi has also published three cookbooks, Roy’s Fish and Seafood, Roy’s Feasts from Hawaii and Hawaii Cooks: Flavors from Roy’s Pacific Rim Kitchen.

Cathy Miller - Director of Tourism "Destination Toledo"
Toledo is in the center of a region rich in historic interest. The settling of the Northwest Territory was marked by frequent battles between the Indians and the settlers, so Toledo - as the meeting point of early Indian trails and the advance guard of the pioneer - has more than its share of historic spots. As early of 1805, a treaty with the Indians was signed at Fort Industry that stood on a bluff at Swan Creek and the Maumee River. Later, Peter Navarre, famed Indian scout, lived in what is now East Toledo and his work was largely responsible for Perry's famous victory at Put-In-Bay - a short distance from Toledo in Lake Erie. The names of Turkey Foot Rock, Fort Meigs, Battle of Fallen Timbers and others are familiar to students of early American History and these historic places center within a radius of 12 miles of Toledo.
Port Lawrence, the first settlement, was laid out in 1816 and in 1832 another settlement called Vistula was founded about a mile down the river. The two villages were consolidated and named Toledo and the latter was incorporated on January 7, 1837.

Our goal is to guide our users to the hotels that will best fit their needs. We do this by extensively photographing every place. Oyster Hotel Reviews employs tireless, smart, experienced travelers who have each seen and extensively evaluated dozens of hotels. Our team of full-time travel reporters evaluates each hotel based on the criteria that are most important to us as travelers. We use our findings to compare properties across vacation destinations to deliver consistent, objective appraisals. e visit and writing in-depth reviews based on our firsthand experiences. We pay to visit each hotel as guests. Management doesn't know we're coming to review the property, and we're not afraid to say when service wasn't perfect or a room was dirty. Our reviews are informed by the sights, smells, and sounds of a property, guest interviews, and our interactions with the staff. Unlike hotel websites, Oyster Hotel Reviews includes photos taken by our reporters to accurately reflect what it's really like to be there. We don't airbrush out power lines or adjacent buildings. The photos you see here represent the hotel as we experienced it. Other travel websites rely solely on user reviews, but those are often anonymous and unreliable. We work to differentiate one-time experiences from the parts of the hotel that will be the same when a user visits. Our reporters also have the experience to actually weigh both the upside and downside of a stay at every hotel. We focus on conducting honest reporting and thoroughly investigating each hotel we visit. Before you go on your next vacation and stay at your next hotel, see what www.Oyster.com has to say. Ivano Toscani GM Anchor Bar - Buffalo, NY "Buffalo Wings"
On a Friday night in 1964, Dominic Bellissimo was tending bar at the now famous Anchor Bar Restaurant in Buffalo, NY. Late that evening, a group of Dominic's friends arrived at the bar with ravenous appetites. Dominic asked his mother, Teressa, to prepare something for his friends to eat. They looked like chicken wings, a part of the chicken that usually went into the stock pot for soup. Teressa had deep fried the wings and flavored them with a secret sauce. The wings were an instant hit and it didn't take long for people to flock to the bar to experience this new taste sensation. From that evening on, Buffalo Wings became a regular part of the menu at the Anchor Bar. The phenomenon created in 1964 by Teressa Bellissimo has spread across the globe. Brian Mitchell "The Psychology of Wine: Truth and Beauty by the Glass"
Since grape juice was first fermented, wine has captured the human imagination, engaging us in a uniquely personal way. According to authors Evan and Brian Mitchell, wine—more than any other organism, aesthetic object, or experience—reflects what it means to be human. The Psychology of Wine: Truth and Beauty by the Glass parts company from the overwhelming majority of books on the subject in that it is neither a profile of some aspect of the industry, nor a collection of tasting notes. Rather, readers are invited to explore the body, mind, and soul of wine from the perspectives of flavor, metaphor, geometry, gender, and human characteristics, including beauty, honesty, and subtlety. Attention is paid also to the historical, geographical, and psychological roots of our affinity with wine and to how the language of wine is intimate to our desires, habits, customs, and culture. Entertaining and highly informative, this book will lead readers to think about wine in fresh and challenging ways.

Chef Chris Cosentino co-host Food Networks "Chefs vs City"
This is the ultimate foodie tour. In each episode of Chefs vs. City, Food Network chefs Aarón Sánchez and Chris Cosentino challenge two local foodies in an action-packed food adventure to locate that city's biggest, boldest, most unexpected food places. From wine stomping in Malibu, to eating the spiciest curry in all of NYC, to braving the coldest room in Las Vegas, Chefs vs. City will test the wits, guts, and skills of both teams as they race to the finish line. Chris Cosentino's passion for food took seed well before he ever donned chef's whites. Growing up in Newport, Rhode Island's Italian-American community, he spent his time clamming, commercial fishing, and cranking the pasta machine in his grandmother's kitchen, developing an early affinity for great ingredients and hard work. Cosentino graduated from Johnson & Wales then went on to build his culinary résumé by working at a number of notable restaurants, including Red Sage in Washington, D.C. and Rubicon, Chez Panisse, Belon, and Redwood Park in the San Francisco Bay Area. His first executive chef position was at Incanto, which he joined in 2002, and his innovative interpretations of rustic Italian fare promptly earned the restaurant its first 3-star review from the San Francisco Chronicle. Since then Cosentino has gained national acclaim as a leading proponent of offal cookery. His approach is marked by a combination of sheer gusto, careful research and precise technique, and stems from a belief that no parts of an animal slaughtered for food should go to waste. From beef tendon to duck tongue to fish spine, he has demonstrated that the "fifth quarter" offers an untapped array of flavors and textures, proving that these "lost cuts" can make for elegant and mouthwatering dishes. Chris has a strong commitment to sustainable principles and humanely raised meats and is an avid researcher of ancient cooking techniques and culinary lore. His menus at Incanto serve to uphold respected culinary traditions and socially responsible practices, yet keep things interesting with adventurous creative meanderings. In addition to serving as Incanto's executive chef, Chris is co-creator of Boccalone (www.boccalone.com), an artisanal salumeria. Additionally, his abiding passion for offal has led him to work on the definitive cookbook on the subject, aimed at providing essential instruction on the preparation of offal for both professional and home cooks.

Joe Vento - Geno's Steaks Philadelphia, PA
Geno's Steaks was started by Joe Vento back in 1966. He figured that if he was going to sell a steak, he had to be where they were already eating them....at the "X" shaped intersection of 9th & Passyunk in South Philadelphia. Joe learned the cheese steak business from his father who in the early 1940's opened "Jim's Steaks". In 1966, Joe started "Geno's" with $6.00 in his pocket, 2 boxes of steaks and some hot dogs. His competitors all gave him six months to succeed and Joe laughed at them. As a twist of fate, there was already a Joe's Steak Place and Joe had to come up with a new name. He noticed a broken door in the back of his store on which a neighborhood boy by the name of "GINO" had painted his name. Joe liked the name but at that time, there was a food chain by that name and he did not want to confuse his business with that chain. So, he simply changed the "I" to "E" and decided to name his store GENO'S. In 1971, when their son was born, Joe and his wife Eileen decided to name him after their business. His son Geno works along with his father in a managerial capacity as well as handling many of the "behind the scene" tasks helping to make the business such a success. Since those days, Geno's has offered the best of cheese steaks. The ingredients are simple, exacting and never greasy thinly sliced rib-eye steak, melted cheese, oven-fresh baked bread and delicately grilled onions. Awaiting your piping hot sandwich on the counter outside are ketchup, mustard, relish and Joe's choice hot sauce. A Word of Warning! Be prepared and know how to order, because the service is fast and the line keeps moving. For example, on a cheese steak with onions specify which kind of cheese you'd like (Provolone, American or Cheese Whiz). By the time you have given your order, your money will be taken and your sandwich will be out the window nice and hot! At the next window you can pick up your soda, fries and coffee. Geno's is open 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a week. There is no indoor dining, but there are tables under canopies on the sidewalk for those who wish to enjoy sandwiches on the premises rather than drive off with them. Stop by when you're in town and see why Geno's Steaks has become a Philadelphia tradition.

Larry Lipson - Costa Rica wine correspondent
He's been the Daily News restaurant critic for 50 years, but Larry Lipson has finally called it quits: "Sure, there have been editors who have leaned somewhat heavily on me - especially during one period when I was the only restaurant critic/writer in America featured in a newspaper seven days a week." Talk about knowing the restaurant scene in LA.

THE NEXT FOOD NETWORK STAR - MELISSA D'ARABIAN
Melissa, 40 (Keller, Texas), pairs her varied culinary and life experiences to provide food lifestyle solutions and approachable recipes for today's families. As a stay-at-home mom to four young daughters, she efficiently budgets time and money to prepare the finest in fresh, home-cooked meals every day. Melissa finds culinary inspiration in family, friends, cooking classes, and world travels.

Food specialty: Family cooking at its finest

Favorite restaurant: L'Alivi – a fabulous restaurant in Paris specializing in Corsican food; it's where my husband took me on our first date (and for our anniversaries)

Three foods you can't live without (other than bread or water): Olive oil (I use it like crazy), bacon (a little goes a long way), and chicken (cost-effective and versatile)

Food you won't go near: I don't like goat cheese. My husband is still trying to convert me (like he did for lamb). I try a goat cheese of his choosing once a year. Seven years, seven tries, and so far, I still don't like it.

Weirdest thing you've ever eaten: I don't think it's weird, but everyone I meet does: a huge plate of steamed broccoli served with a homemade citron mayonnaise. I can eat a pound of broccoli that way – it's addictive!

Interests: I love theatre, movies, writing, and reading non-fiction

Favorite Food Network chef: I love how they all have something different to offer; each one provides a solution to a different culinary "problem," but the one Food Network chef that had me standing in line for hours (in the rain and with a potty-training daughter) for a book signing is Bobby Flay. Who would ever guess that a year later I would get to cook for him?

Favorite shows (doesn't have to be Food Network): The Office, Iron Chef America, Amazing Race, American Idol, and Jon and Kate Plus 8

Favorite food destination: One of the best meals I ever had was an al fresco dinner in Kusadasi, Turkey. The vegetables were unbelievably fresh and sweet, the meat was all marinated in unusual flavors that worked perfectly, and the Turkish coffee was a perfect finish. Every meal I've ever eaten in Turkey has been a culinary adventure.

Culinary inspirations: I'm always imagining the role my food will take and how it nourishes others; it's always about the other person. My biggest inspirations are my family – my husband and my four daughters.

Three people, alive or dead, whom you'd like to invite to a dinner party: My mother – I miss her still everyday, but I'd love to have her so she could meet my daughters. Jay Leno – when I worked in Los Angeles, he was widely reputed as one of the hardest working and nicest men in Hollywood; I admire that. Oprah – she is a tremendous role model who uses her success to help others in countless ways.

Favorite books: The Prophet, Getting to Yes, The Dancing Wu Li Masters, the entire For Dummies series (you can become a weekend expert on almost anything!), The Writer's Journey, Nurturing Good Children Now, Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, The Bible

Favorite movies: The Graduate (reminds me of my mom), Mamma Mia (reminds me of my daughters), and Spy Game (one of my first dates with my husband)

Why do you think you should be The Next Food Network Star? I relate to people in a number of key demographics: the single career woman, the stay-at-home parent, and the working parent. I've been in all of these circumstances, and my experiences drive both my way of life and my culinary point of view. I have four kids (aged four and under), but I think the fact that I'm not "supermom" makes me accessible. I want parents across America to breathe a sigh of relief when they see me on TV and to say to themselves, "if she can do it, then so can I"

Alisa Barry award-winning Bella Cucina Artful Food in Atlanta
"You can't have wine without a little something to eat," says Alisa Barry as she rummages through her fridge. Four of her girlfriends have gathered in her kitchen for wine and conversation—and to get a head start on the holidays. They will prepare spice blends, flavored salts and other concoctions to bag, box, bottle and wrap as edible gifts. Barry, who runs the award-winning Bella Cucina Artful Food in Atlanta, is in her element. This is what she does for a living. Barry dollops a spoonful of Bella Cucina's lemon-pear marmalade on a platter for her guests, then adds slivers of goat gouda, sliced fennel-sultana bread and marcona almonds. The garnish: a branch snipped from one of the olive trees that, surprisingly, not only grow but bear fruit in Barry's garden. Barry lives a few minutes from Bella Cucina's downtown production plant and retail shop. The company's artisanal pestos, preserves and sauces are now a familiar presence in specialty food stores as well as national retailers like Whole Foods Market. These conserves are so good they are quickly put to good use rather than being pushed back into the nether regions of the pantry. The clear, curvaceous jars and the natural flavors of Barry's walnut-sage pesto, Meyer lemon spread and farmhouse sun-dried-tomato pasta sauce with capers all reflect her love of Italian culinary traditions and her refined-in-California sensibility.

Natasha - "Addicted to Beauty" Oxygen Tuesday Night at 11 PM PT/ET
Oxygen pulls back the curtain on the tantalizing world of medi-spas with a new reality workplace dramedy series, “Addicted to Beauty." which follows the outrageous staff at Changes Plastic Surgery and Spa, located in Southern California. Dianne York-Goldman, socialite and marketing expert, has brought her over-the-top employees from her previous spa to help with this new venture with well-known plastic surgeon Dr. Gilbert Lee. The staff includes: Gary, the flamboyant and outspoken receptionist; Ronnie, the eccentric concierge; Natasha, Dianne’s levelheaded assistant and Shannyn, the whip cracking spa manager. However, this group may be no match for Melanie (aka, “Mel”), Dr. Lee’s no nonsense office manager who is not afraid of giving out tough love. The workplace antics get out of control when the staff must learn to work together for the common good of the business. As the pressure increases to get the spa up and running, personalities clash and chaos ensues. Natasha has to pick up Gary’s front desk slack, Ronnie is completely averse to having Shannyn as his boss and Mel becomes fed up with the incompetency of Dianne’s staff. Overall, it’s going to be a bumpy ride to success! The series is set to premiere Tuesday, August 4 at 11PM ET/PT on Oxygen. As executive assistant and confidante to Dianne, Natasha handles every detail of her personal and professional life. Although the two women often clash, Natasha is confident in her abilities and knows exactly how to manage Dianne. Natasha prides herself on being able to say what’s on her mind, which sometimes causes tension amongst her colleagues. As for her cosmetic practices, Natasha is one of the least nipped and tucked people in the office, only having had a breast augmentation. Natasha has aspirations to one day own her own spa. Her family is hugely important to her and she enjoys cooking and baking in her spare time.

Gary Jaffe Owner Jaffe Estates - Napa Valley and Alan Balik
Who’d have guessed that a person could spend so much time studying the heavens and still keep their feet firmly planted in the soil? For Gary and Pam Jaffe, spotting new stars in the Orion Nebula, or counting Saturn’s rings brings a fresh perspective on bud break along the vines, or the bright taste of young wine in the mouth. With its silver-domed observatory perched on the edge of the vineyard, Jaffe Estate marries the agricultural and the celestial, the earth and the sky, to create transcendent wines. Two of Gary’s enduring passions come together here: a lifelong fascination with astronomy and a love for the Napa Valley that began decades ago. Drawn first by the striking beauty of the Valley and surrounding hills, it was the collaborative approach to growing wine grapes that compelled him to stay. He had never before encountered an industry in which competitors routinely helped one another succeed. The more time he spent here, the clearer it became that Napa’s winemakers are committed to maintaining its reputation as the premiere viticultural region in the country. Collective success takes precedence over individual gain. Gary embraced the “we’re all in this together” spirit of the place, the mutual effort it takes to make some of the world’s finest wines. Now that the Jaffes live in the Valley year-round, they are able to fully participate while giving back to the community. Pam created the popular Holiday Home Tour as a fund-raiser for the St. Helena elementary school, and both she and Gary are active in a variety of charitable organizations. Then there are the groups of local school kids who visit the observatory for up-close views of star clusters, planets and other celestial sights. The Jaffes encourage every one of them to come back as often as they like. Most do--usually with an excited parent in tow. Pam exemplifies the ethos of both the Jaffe Estate and the larger Napa Valley. For her, this is the ideal place to raise a family, to commune joyfully with the natural world, to live life abundantly. Pam spent her young adulthood touring Asia and Africa. She lived on the retired Navy ship her documentary filmmaker father outfitted to accommodate his wife and children, along with a battery of cousins, friends, deck hands, tutors and film crew. And yet, for a woman who has traveled extensively--even to the stars--there is no better place than this patch of earth she and Gary tend as a loving legacy for their children.
