Jaime Salas is the perfect embodiment of modern day Mexico. Having grown up dividing his time between the creative freedom of San Francisco and Mexico’s tequila producing region of Jalisco, Jaime developed an expert knowledge and unique perspective on the country’s most famous export, which has informed every aspect of his career since. Jaime has sampled countless tequilas along his journey to expertise, as well as a refined palate and a remarkable collection of more than 300 unique and hard-to-find bottles. Jaime is also heavily involved with the United States Bartender’s Guild and has recently completed phase two of Certificado de Catador Entrenado given by world renowned Master Tequilera Ana Maria Romero. His tequila and mixology expertise has been consistently featured prominently at some of the country’s top events, including Tales of the Cocktail and the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, as well as in a range of national print and broadcast media. He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.

Jaime also holds a Tequila Expert & Taster certification given by Academia Mexicana de Vino, Tequila y Mezcal S.A. and a Master Mezcalier accreditation given by Comercam, which is the government entity in Mexico that regulates mezcal production and certification.

CHEF PARIS NABAVI - CINCO DE MAYO CELEBRATION AT SANGRITA GRILL AND CATINA IN MAUI HAWAII

Sangrita Grill + Cantina is the newest restaurant concept from Chef Paris Nabavi, creator and owner of Pizza Paradiso Mediterranean Grill in Honokowai and the award-winning Cilantro Mexican Grill in Lahaina.

Chef Paris Nabavi is an active member in the community and takes a special interest in educating young people about healthy eating and sustainable agriculture. His current initiatives include partnering with Maui School Garden Network to sponsor organic seed for school gardens throughout the island of Maui, Molokai, and Lanai for the last four years. Chef Nabavi also supports the efforts of Grow Some Good in Maui’s local schools by creating hands-on outdoor, edible classrooms to cultivate curiosity and connect students to their food sources, and inspire better nutrition choices.
Chef Nabavi’s Cilantro Mexican Grill was named “Exceptional Small Business” of 2013 for Maui County.
