The LAWineFest is proud to be in its 11th successful year. This popular event blazed a trail in L.A. to bring wine and people together in a fun, inviting and accessible way. Now a local institution, we’re known to reliably deliver a sun-kissed event that balances fun, exploration and education. Our goal is to help people explore their taste in a festive environment. Our unofficial motto: Drink what you like; Like what you drink!

ABOUT DR. JOEL M. FISHER – FOUNDER & CEO:
Joel M. Fisher, PhD writes or has written for the Culinary Connection of the Chefs de Cuisine Association of California, for the Beverly Hills Courier, and since 2010 for the Underground Wine Letter. From 2007-2009 he taught at Cordon Bleu in Pasadena. Prior to that, he was the wine instructor for the Culinary Arts Department of the Art Institute of California — Los Angeles for seven years and is a founding partner of the educational Wine Vine and Dine, which conducts programs throughout Southern California and Wine Discoveries. Net. A Sommelier for the Escoffier Association of Southern California, he is also a member of The Tasting Panel (formerly the Bon Appetit Tasting Panel) and is a Wine Host for CRN’s What’s Cooking Show.

Dr. Fisher is a member of the Society of Wine Educators, The Circle of Wine Writers (UK), and the International Federation of Wine and Spirits Writers. Awarded a Wine Enthusiast Media Scholarship for 2005 at the Culinary Institute of America, he is the author of the Wine Work Book, now in its 6th edition. Dr. Fisher co-led a program for chefs and culinary students to the Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany and to wineries in Burgundy and Champagne in 2005. In June 2006 he again led a program, “Wine and Cuisine of Iberia,” to Spain and Portugal. Future programs to wine regions are in the works.

ACTOR MICHAEL WESTON - PLAYS HOUDINI IN THE NEW HOUDINI & DOYLE ON FOX - PREMIERES THIS MONDAY MAY 2  

Michael Weston (born October 25, 1973) is an American television and film actor. His best-known roles are the private detective Lucas Douglas on House, the homicidal meth addict Jake in the critically acclaimed HBO drama Six Feet Under and Pvt. Dancer on Scrubs.

Personal life
Weston was born Michael Rubinstein in New York City, the son of actors Judi West andJohn Rubinstein, the grandson of piano virtuoso Arthur Rubinstein and the great-grandson of conductor Emil Młynarski, the founding conductor of Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestraand principal conductor of the Scottish Orchestra.  He holds a degree in Theater and Arts from Northwestern University. In 2000 he changed his surname to "Weston" as there was already a "Michael Rubinstein" in the Screen Actors Guild. He has been married to musician Priscilla Ahn since 2010.

Acting career
Weston is a good friend of actor Zach Braff and has appeared in three features with him, Garden State, Wish I Was Here and The Last Kiss, and as a guest star on Braff's television show, Scrubs. Weston has also appeared as Simon Marsden, Olivia Benson's half-brother on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Weston appeared in the fifth season of House as a private investigator named Lucas Douglas hired by Dr. Gregory House; he reappeared in season six. Series creator David Shore planned a spin-off show with Weston's character as the lead in 2008, but the show never went into production. In 2009, Weston appeared in the Gerard Butler action film Gamer. He made a guest appearance on Burn Notice. In 2012, he starred in the A&E television movie, Coma.

ABOUT HOUDINI & DOYLE ON FOX:
The series premieres Monday, May 2 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The series follows real-life friends and historical figures, Harry Houdini (Michael Weston) and, in his pre-knighthood days, Arthur Conan Doyle (Stephen Mangan), as they work together to solve seemingly inexplicable cases involving the paranormal. Inspired by true events, the series follows two great men of the 20th Century and real-life friends - HARRY HOUDINI (Weston), master magician, escape artist and paranormal debunker; and ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE (Mangan), prolific writer, creator of "Sherlock Holmes" and paranormal aficionado. They grudgingly join forces with New Scotland Yard to investigate unsolved, inexplicable and possibly supernatural crimes, alongside the first female Constable of the London Metropolitan Police Force, ADELAIDE STRATTON (Rebecca Liddiard, "Man Seeking Woman").
