10/12 LELAND ORSER, BERLIN STATION, CHEF CLAUD BELTRAN, RECIPES FOR NATIONAL GUMBO DAY

ACTOR LELAND ORSER TALKS ABOUT HIS ROLE IN THE MODERN-DAY SPY THRILLER, BERLIN STATION

On Sunday, October 15 at 9p.m., EPIX's acclaimed spy drama BERLIN STATION returns. Berlin Station, a contemporary spy drama, takes a look at the activity of a CIA office on a global stage in the midst of an investigation into a now-infamous whistleblower. The series follows Daniel Miller, played by Richard Armitage (The Hobbit, “Hannibal”) a new arrival to Berlin’s CIA station who is on a clandestine mission to uncover the source of the Thomas Shaw leaks. Berlin Station also stars Rhys Ifans as Hector Dejean, Richard Jenkins as Steven Frost, Leland Orser as Robert Kirsch and Michelle Forbes as Valerie Edwards.

Season 2 of Berlin Station opens in the thick of a New World Order that has taken root and is steadily deepening. In the wake of the Far Right tide sweeping across continental Europe, Germany finds itself on the precipice of a pivotal election. The captivating and charismatic Alt-Right party leader Katerina Gerhardt has capitalized on the refugee crisis and economic strife to woo disillusioned voters fed up with the status quo. She seems poised for a big win, and our heroes at Berlin Station must determine the nature of the threat she poses, and what role they should play. Is Katerina is a viable candidate with a controversial message who should be protected by the democratic process? Or, as preliminary evidence suggests, is she colluding with terrorists?

New to the cast this season are Ashley Judd as the new Chief of Station, BB Yates, and Keke Palmer as young case officer April Lewis.

ABOUT BACCHUS KITCHEN:
1384 Washington Blvd.
Pasadena, CA 91104
How it all started...
Our extension to Bacchus’ Kitchen started in the spring of 2014. As I drove by and saw a for lease sign, I saw the potential for further serving a great neighborhood that we were already serving at The Eatery location. We are also a catering company and service many functions on the San Gabriel Valley. Since that part of the business kept growing, it was difficult functioning out of a 1400 square foot location that was taxing all elements of the business.  Construction and design started in the spring of 2014 and completed 8 months later into was is now Bacchus’ Kitchen. The kitchen has proved efficient for catering and banquets as well serving the dining room and patio. We wanted a relaxed, casual atmosphere for the neighborhood with one of the other elements involved at Bacchus is our music program that features a monthly concert of top tier jazz musicians. We have made friends with artists from all over the country who have graced the Bacchus Live stage and we are very grateful. We are very involved in local charities and gladly use our space for events supporting many different groups. We hope you join us soon and visit either Bacchus’ Kitchen or the Eatery on Allen.

LESLIE MCCUISTON JUST NAMED AMERICA’S 2017 PIG FARMER OF THE YEAR

NEBRASKA FARMER NAMED AMERICA'S PIG FARMER OF THE YEAR
The National Pork Board announced today that Leslie McCuiston, a pig farmer from Columbus, Nebraska, has been named the 2017 America's Pig Farmer of the YearSM, by achieving the highest combined score from a third-party judging panel and online voting. The award recognizes a pig farmer who excels at raising pigs using the We CareSM ethical principles and who connects with today's consumers about how pork is produced.

"We are pleased to have Leslie represent America's pig farmers. She embodies the very best in pig farming," said Terry O'Neel, National Pork Board president and a pig farmer from Friend, Nebraska. "It's important that we share with today's consumers how we raise their food in an ethical and transparent way. Leslie's interest in sharing her farm's story, as well as putting a face on today's pig farming, will help us reach this goal."

Focusing on people is McCuiston's main goal as a senior production manager for The Maschhoffs, LLC. McCuiston believes in equipping employees with the right tools to provide the best animal care every day. She oversees 70 employees who care for more than 18,000 sows in central Nebraska and surrounding states.

"For me, pig farming isn't just a job, it's a career that I am passionate about," McCuiston said. "I want to find new, innovative ways to show others what we do in pig farming, explain how much we care and help people understand where their food comes from."

McCuiston was named America's Pig Farmer of the Year following a third-party audit of on-farm practices and after taking part in a series of written and oral interviews by subject-matter experts. She has achieved excellence in all aspects of pig farming, including animal care, environmental stewardship, employee work environment and outstanding community service.

The panel of expert judges met in early September with the four finalists. Members of the five-member panel included Brittni Furrow, Walmart's senior director of sustainability; Robin Ganzert, president and CEO of American Humane; Kari Underly, a third-generation Chicago butcher, author and principal of Range®, Inc., a meat marketing and education firm; J. Scott Vernon, professor, College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, Cal Poly; and Brad Greenway, the 2016 America's Pig Farmer of the Year and chairman of the U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance.

"As an animal lover and the leader of the country's first national humane organization, I am honored to be a judge for America's Pig Farmer of the Year," Ganzert said. "American Humane celebrates all those, including our nation's farmers, who care for animals and work hard to ensure they are treated humanely. Today, more than ever, it is important not only to point out where progress is needed, but to recognize when we get it right."

The National Pork Board has responsibility for Checkoff-funded research, promotion and consumer information projects and for communicating with pork producers and the public. Through a legislative national Pork Checkoff, pork producers invest $0.40 for each $100 value of hogs sold. Importers of pork products contribute a like amount, based on a formula. The Pork Checkoff funds national and state programs in advertising, consumer information, retail and foodservice marketing, export market promotion, production improvement, science and technology, swine health, pork safety and sustainability and environmental management. For information on Checkoff-funded programs, pork producers can call the Pork Checkoff Service Center at (800) 456-7675 or check the Internet at www.pork.org.

MICHELE CASSALIA SHARES TIPS TO FIGHT THE UNSEEN DANGER OF POOR INDOOR AIR QUALITY

BREATHE EASY IN A HEALTHIER HOME
The Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America (AAFA) shares tips to fight the unseen danger of poor indoor air quality

Indoor air quality can be 2-5 times worse than the air outside, yet your viewers are spending 90% of their time indoors. October is Indoor Air Quality Month, a time to raise awareness surrounding a mostly invisible problem of potentially harmful effects of poor air quality inside many homes. Many viewers are likely unaware of poor indoor air quality, but may have experienced firsthand its impact, ranging from eye and throat irritation to increased asthma symptoms. In fact, pets, cooking and everyday cleaning activities like vacuuming and dusting may kick up millions of particles we can’t see into the air we breathe. And, cold winter months can worsen indoor air quality, as many close the windows and run their furnaces, reducing natural ventilation.

In fact, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has ranked indoor air pollution among the top five environmental risks to public health, alongside issues such as toxic waste and clean water scarcity. Even well-maintained and ventilated homes can be a breeding ground for dust, pollen, mold spores, bacteria and other viruses.

Michele is here to share the most common causes affecting the air in your home, and simple, specific tips to increase healthier air circulation.

Proper Ventilation – Cooking is a big source of indoor air pollution, particularly if you have a gas stove; be sure your kitchen is well-ventilated, and open windows and doors while cooking.
Humidity Control – Run exhaust fans in bathrooms, remove mold growth and promptly fix all leaks to reduce the potential breeding ground for mold spores and bacteria.

Changing your Air Filter – The EPA recommends checking your home’s air filter monthly and changing it at least quarterly to help improve indoor air quality. 3M Filtrete filters are 90% effective at capturing dust, pollen and mold spores, 25% more effective than other filters on the market.
Eliminate Toxic Products – Check what chemicals are in your hair/nail products, art supplies and cleaning solutions, look for products marked “low VOCs” and use only in a well-ventilated area.

“DR. E” - PHYSICIAN ADDRESSES OVERACTIVE BLADDER

STOP STALLING: ADDRESSING OVERACTIVE BLADDER
Physician Discusses What is Normal “Peehavior” and What May Not Be Normal

Women do it all – they work, raise families, attend school and care for elderly parents. Yet, when it comes to their bladder health – they just cope with any issues rather than talk to a doctor about them. According to the new Peehavior survey, conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs on behalf of Astellas Pharma US, 60 percent of women do not think about their bladder health often if at all.1 But no one is immune from the sudden urge to pee.

In fact, approximately 46 million U.S. adults age 40 and older experience overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms of urgency, frequency and leakage at least sometimes.2 This could mean the difference between going and running to the bathroom. Despite this, only about 1 in 8 women seek treatment for symptoms.3

The new Peehavior survey of 2,854 women across the United States and from different ethnic backgrounds reveals the bathroom habits of U.S. women and the lengths they’ll go when they have to go. The results bring to life what bathroom habits are normal so that we can get real about those habits that may actually be indicative of a diagnosable and manageable medical condition, OAB.

Ekene Enemchukwu, M.D., M.P.H. – “Dr. E” – a practicing female pelvic medicine urologist, will set the record straight on OAB by discussing symptoms, causes and options to help manage the condition as well as encourage women to talk to their doctor. She will also discuss the recently launched video series: “Stall Stories”, which addresses the sensitive topic of OAB with a subtle dose of humor and set in a bathroom among the stalls and hand dryers

09/25 DAVE ASPREY, HEALTH PERKS OF COFFEE, BULLETPROOF COFFEE, SHARON MILLER, BANK OF AMERICA, MANAGER OF THE LA DODGERS DAVE ROBERTS, RED STITCH WINE

DAVE ASPREY -  DISCUSSES THE HEALTH PERKS OF COFFEE AND HIS BRAIN BOOSTING DIET

BIOHACKING EXPERT DISCUSSES THE HEALTH PERKS OF COFFEE AND HIS BRAIN BOOSTING DIET

Dave Asprey, biohacking expert and entrepreneur, is living proof of the value of managing your own biology using nutritional techniques. Asprey began his career in Silicon Valley, where the stress of working as an executive wore on his body: He was tired, suffered constantly from “brain fog,” and, at one point, weighed 300 pounds. After trying various diet fads to no avail, Dave spent more than two decades “hacking” his own biology – working with world-renowned doctors and scientists to uncover the latest, most innovative methods for enhancing mental and physical performance. It was during this time he created Bulletproof coffee.

DID YOU KNOW?
The average coffee drinker has 3.1 cups per day, or 70 gallons a year – enough to fill a bathtub.
Coffee has been linked to improved memory recall, and can also help prevent Alzheimer’s, heart disease, gout, and type 2 diabetes.
Coffee drinkers are 50% less likely to get liver cancer than those who avoid the beverage.

SOME OF HIS TIPS INLCUDE:
REDUCE & REPLACE. Eliminating sugar, corn syrups, and even natural sweeteners like maple syrup and honey, will keep your blood sugar and brain function balanced.
ELIMINATE THE FAKE STUFF: Avoid all synthetic additives, colors, and flavors. This includes aspartame, MSG, dyes, and artificial flavors.
CHOOSE DAIRY CAREFULLY: Remove all processed, homogenized, pasteurized, and non-  or low-fat dairy products. Full fat, raw, whole dairy from grass-fed cows is well-tolerated by most people.
GIVE YOURSELF A COFFEE UPGRADE: Looking for new coffee flavors? Try adding turmeric, ginger, collagen protein, or cayenne to your coffee for creative flavor and a healthy upgrade.

FORMER MLB OUTFIELDER AND CURRENT MANAGER OF THE LA DODGERS DAVE ROBERTS – OWNER, RED STITCH WINE

Drawn together through a blind tasting group, our families (the Aurilias, Miceks and Roberts) have become close friends and devoted wine enthusiasts. Beginning in 2007, we have enjoyed incredible tastings in our homes and at our favorite restaurants across California and around the world. As our love for wine brought us closer together, our relationships across Napa and Sonoma grew deeper as well. After the 2008 baseball season ended for Rich and Dave, we started to lay the groundwork for our venture into the wine business. Enjoying one incredible tasting after another across the Napa and Sonoma Valleys, visits with Rolando Herrera of Mi Sueño Winery, and the story of his passion for the art of fine wine, led us to friendship and an ultimate partnership. Rolando's knowledge, relationships and enthusiasm for Red Stitch have given us the opportunity to source incredible grapes from some of the finest vineyards in the Napa Valley.

Since the formation of Red Stitch, Rich, Dave, Tricia, John and Noelle have been intimately involved in the winemaking process, and have worked closely with Rolando and the entire Mi Sueño family to craft a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec that would stand the test of time. This hands-on approach defines our group's desire to be involved in all aspects of the winemaking process. The inclusion of the Malbec varietal in our flagship Cabernet Sauvignon is both due to the varietal's outstanding characteristics and the layers that it brings to the wine, as well as the fact that a fantastic Malbec tasting first brought our families together in San Francisco!

Since our inaugural 2007 vintage, we are proud to have deepened our relationships with the wine community. In 2011, we were fortunate to partner with the renowned vineyards Soberanes and Sierra Mar in the Santa Lucia Highlands, to craft two outstanding vineyard designate Pinot Noirs. Both wines have become an integral part of the Red Stitch portfolio, and we could not be more thrilled!

Our Team
In life it is clear that wine often brings strangers together around a table and turns them into friends. The Red Stitch story is no different in this regard. Starting around a table in Patagonia, Argentina and bringing the families together for the first time at a Malbec tasting in San Francisco; wine has played a special role in the creation of The Red Stitch Wine Group. Please meet the Aurilias, the Miceks, and the Roberts.

David & Tricia Roberts
Owners
David and Tricia Roberts grew up in San Diego, California and were high school sweethearts. The Roberts were married in 1997 and have two children, Cole and Emmerson. In 2010, Tricia completed sommelier school and is a Certified Specialist of Wine. Soon after in 2011, she founded her interior design firm, Tricia Roberts Design and has been incorporating her classic style from coast to coast.
David graduated from UCLA and went on to have a happy and successful 10 year career as a Major League baseball player. He will long be remembered by Boston Red Sox fans for his “Steal of the Century” in Game 4 of the 2004 American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees. David retired from playing baseball in the spring of 2009 and is the new Manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

David and Tricia developed a shared passion for wine over their time together and took their first of many trips to Napa Valley during the harvest of 2002. They enjoy spending time together as a family with their two children at their home in Southern California.

KEITH NOWAK – DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS AT TRAVELOCITY - EXPERT TRAVELING TIPS THIS FALL AND HOLIDAY SEASON

EXPERT TRAVELING TIPS THIS FALL AND HOLIDAY SEASON

Unique Properties among the Most Sought After

Your rainy day fund is full, you’ve arranged time off from work, and your new luggage has arrived.  Now what?  Time to plan out where to go and more importantly, where to stay.  Hotel? Bed and Breakfast? A vacation rental?  The choices are endless – and that is a good thing!

The landscape for consumers to book travel lodging is continuing to evolve thanks to online travel agents (OTAs) like Travelocity alongside peer-to-peer online marketplace and homestay networks, which have risen in popularity in recent years. Positive experiences with alternate accommodations, like Airbnb or HomeAway,  are becoming more mainstream. This has helped to increase consumer confidence in booking different types of trips. These growing options have also resulted in a greater supply of available hotel rooms with local options being highly popular.  Along with major national chains, OTA’s also offer thousands of unique, locally-owned properties that reflect the nature of the destination.

DID YOU KNOW YOU COULD TRAVEL TO:
A 300 year old hotel in Massachusetts
A Wisconsin motel dedicated to the recording of live music
A luxury treehouse hotel in Mexico
An Arizona motel with a room 200 feet underground

It is expected that 2018 will be “the year of choice” for booking travel lodging. This is exciting news  since it will enable more U.S. travelers to be “slightly adventurous” and allow consumers to take even more trips. On Wednesday, September 20th, Keith Nowak is available to you and your listeners to talk about the benefits of researching and booking your vacation on-line this holiday season as well as the changes and trends coming up this holiday season and next year.

EMMY-NOMINATED EXECUTIVE PRODUCER ABBEY LEVINE & DR. BREION TAFOYA FROM DICKINSON PULMONOLOGY CLINIC - NEW DOCUMENTARY FILM, CLEAR THE AIR: OPENING UP ABOUT COPD

NEW DOCUMENTARY FILM, CLEAR THE AIR: OPENING UP ABOUT COPD, SHOWCASES THE REALITY OF LIVING WITH COPD THROUGH A NEW LENS

Did you know chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the third leading cause of death in the United States? While significant progress has been made in the fight against other serious diseases, mortality rates from COPD remain on the rise. COPD literally takes a person’s breath away, which causes fatigue and physical limitations that can make even the simplest of tasks, such as getting out of bed in the morning, a difficult chore.Although COPD primarily affects patients’ lungs, it can also cause emotional challenges as a result of physical limitations.

In the U.S., 15 million people have been diagnosed with COPD. Unfortunately, people living with COPD may often be considered ‘victims of their own devices’ – as most have been lifelong smokers – rather than ‘champions’ or ‘survivors’ who have learned to live their lives in spite of a chronic disease.

To shine a light on the physical and emotional impact of COPD, Emmy-nominated Executive Producer and Director of the film, Abbey LeVine, teamed up with Boehringer Ingelheim, a company that has been committed to the COPD community for over 40 years, to embark on a journey that chronicles the stories of people living with COPD in a new documentary film. LeVine draws inspiration from caring for her mother, who lives with COPD, and focuses her lens on three extraordinary individuals in hopes of better understanding life with COPD.

In this interview, LeVine, along with Dr. Breion Tafoya, who appears in the film, will discuss Clear the Air: Opening Up About COPD, a documentary that introduces viewers to three people living with COPD, who share intimate details about their lives, and the challenges of living with COPD.

They’ll also discuss COPD – what it is, who are most at risk, and how patients can take back control of their lives by finding the right treatment plan.

MARYN MCKENNA - BIG CHICKEN: THE INCREDIBLE STORY OF HOW ANTIBIOTICS CREATED MODERN AGRICULTURE & CHANGED THE WAY THE WORLD EATS

Antibiotics Changed the World. Then We Gave Them to Animals.

This is the Story of What Happened Next.

BIG CHICKEN: THE INCREDIBLE STORY OF HOW ANTIBIOTICS CREATED MODERN AGRICULTURE AND CHANGED THE WAY THE WORLD EATS

Chicken is the world’s most popular meat, but its path to our plates winds through a dark and fascinating history. BIG CHICKEN: The Incredible Story of How Antibiotics Created Modern Agriculture and Changed the Way the World Eats explores the “backyard bird’s” meteoric rise from local delicacy to global commodity, and how it paved the way for a stunning transformation of farming worldwide.

Award-winning journalist (New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic, Wired, Scientific American), critically acclaimed author (SUPERBUG and BEATING BACK THE DEVIL), and TED speaker with more than 1.5 million views for her talk “What do we do when antibiotics don't work anymore,” Maryn McKenna takes readers on an extraordinary journey from farm to lab to restaurant, and into the kitchens of everyday Americans and families around the globe.

Drawing on more than 100 interviews in the United States and Europe with farmers, lawyers, historians, microbiologists, politicians and chefs — and more than 1,000 pieces of research, McKenna pieces together the parallel, intertwined stories of the achievement of “growth promoter” antibiotics and the rise of the modern poultry industry. In a tour de force of scientific and cultural history, McKenna finds the connections between flavor and nutrition, genetics and history, labor and the role of women, and pollution and politics. Reaching back to the earliest days of the antibiotic era, she traces the unintended consequences of the post-World War II drive to feed the world inexpensively by producing meat as quickly as possible — and how those good intentions created a worldwide epidemic of drug-resistant infections that have defeated almost every antibiotic we have.

Alzheimer’s disease is devastating and increasingly widespread. More than forty-seven million people are living with Alzheimer’s worldwide. Through rigorous clinical studies and research helping thousands of patients, Dean and Ayesha Sherzai—neurologists, researchers, and co-directors of the Alzheimer’s Prevention Program at Loma Linda University Medical Center—have uncovered the key lifestyle components contributing to this worldwide epidemic. They’ve also developed a solution—The Alzheimer’s Prevention Program—to help you and your loved ones avoid developing this terrible disease and even reverse cognitive decline.

The human brain is a living universe that responds to what you feed it, how you treat it, when you challenge it, and the ways in which you allow it to rest. This much-needed, revolutionary book shows you how to live in a way that promotes the health of your brain and your body and add vibrant years to your life. ABOUT CAVALLO POINT:
Cavallo Point – one look tells you this is a very special place. Look deeper and you'll find an innovative partnership.

Cavallo Point – the Lodge at the Golden Gate was created by the Fort Baker Retreat Group, a project of Passport Resorts, Equity Community Builders and Ajax Capital Group. The Fort Baker Retreat Group is working with the National Park Service and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy in a unique private/public/non-profit alliance to restore, enhance and preserve Fort Baker as a National Park for generations to come.

ABOUT OUR NAME 'CAVALLO POINT'
The name "Cavallo" is part of the San Francisco Bay's history. It dates from 1775 when a rocky point near Fort Baker was named "Punta de Caballo" by the commander of one of the first European vessels that sailed into the bay. Wild horses once roamed here, and "caballo" is the Spanish word for "horse." Early California settlers started using "Cavallo," as the pronunciation of b and v in Spanish are very close, and the name took hold.

Cavallo Point – the Lodge at the Golden Gate is a fictitious business name for Fort Baker Retreat Subtenant, LLC, a California limited liability company.

Cavallo Point – the Lodge at the Golden Gate is managed by Passport-Ft. Baker Management LLC, which is an affiliate of Passport Resorts LLC. For more information on Passport Resorts LLC and other properties managed by its affiliates, please visit www.passportresorts.com

How we came to be
Originally inhabited by the coastal Miwok tribes, Horseshoe Cove became home to Fort Baker long before there was a Golden Gate Bridge. In 1866, the U.S. Army acquired the site for a military base to fortify the north side of the Golden Gate. The 24 buildings around the 10-acre parade ground at Fort Baker took shape between 1901 and 1915. The Army post remained active through World War II.

From Post to Park
In 1973 Fort Baker was listed as a Historic District in the National Register of Historic Places. When the Golden Gate National Parks were established in 1972, Fort Baker was designated for transfer to the National Park Service when no longer needed by the military. In 2002 Fort Baker transferred officially from post to park.

The public is invited to enjoy the 81st Annual Solvang Danish Days from Friday, September 15 through Sunday, September 17, 2017, a festival honoring the establishment of Solvang 106 years ago by Danish-Americans and helping preserve Solvang’s authentic heritage. New to Solvang Danish Days this year is a town-wide restaurant promotion; participating Solvang eateries and bars will be “cooking up” special menus and fare. And, there is a free return performance by Danish-American organist James Welch on the Phelps pipe organ at Bethania Lutheran Church, 603 Atterdag Road on Saturday, 9/16/17 at 1:00 p.m.  On Sunday, 9/16/17 at 2:45pm is the Closing Ceremony in Solvang Park with the vaudevillian antics of Comedy Industries and a free, live concert featuring Matt Cermanski and Joey Sykes of HONEY RIVER.

Gabrielle’s uncle, Rodney Nielsen, has volunteered for Danish Days for the last thirty-plus years as well as serves on the board and countless committees.

Danish Days boasts three popular parades (Friday night Torchlight; Saturday afternoon Main Parade featuring 2017 Grand Marshal Ms. Petti M. Pfau as well as Sunday afternoon Children’s Parade.)

In Solvang Park, check out the free Kids’ Korner featuring a huge LEGOS® make-your-own craft tent and the Viking Encampment.

Guests can also do online advance purchases of Saturday and Sunday Aebleskiver Breakfast tickets and the “Dane For A Day” VIP ticket bundle.

Favorite activities year-round in Solvang include enjoying the authentic restaurants and bakeries featuring delicious Danish cuisine, as well as beer and wine tasting from local vintners. CAROLINE AND EMILY BELCHER AND CATHERINE BLADES TALK ABOUT A NATIONAL CAMPAIGN TO CURE CHILDHOOD CANCER

THE SEARCH FOR A CURE FOR CHILD CANCER

Learn the Amazing Story of an 8-Year-Old Child’s battle with cancer, Her Mom, Researchers & Why Thousands will Gather in Washington to Push for a Cure

More than 16,000 children will be diagnosed with cancer each year; yet only 4% of federal cancer funding goes toward childhood cancer.

This coming September is CureFest, a grassroots effort to unite childhood cancer organizations into one voice to help raise awareness and to convince regulators of the greater need for funding.  CureFest’s mission is to make childhood cancer research a national priority.  One of the major sponsors of CureFest is Aflac, which is also sponsoring an event in partnership with Atlantic Media called Children and Cancer. This will be held the day after the  special CureFest interviews on September 14th. The event will be a forum in D.C. that includes speakers from the government, researchers and doctors, who will discuss the latest needs and initiatives involving childhood cancer.  Aflac is doing something about this through its $118 million commitment to fighting childhood cancer.

Thanks to the dedication of doctors, brave patients and the work of organizations like the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorder Center the cure rate for childhood cancer is now almost 90 percent, up from only 20 percent.

Your audience will hear an inspiring message from Caroline Belcher, a brave eight-year-old battling cancer, her mom and a CureFest organizer Emily Belcher and Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications at Aflac, Catherine Blades. Dealing with childhood cancer is a grind and it is emotionally taxing. Caroline and Emily will be able to discuss the realities of dealing with a child who has cancer from both the child and the mother’s perspective. We hope you’ll find time for this inspiring story!
