PIER PAOLO CELESTE - TRADE COMMISSIONER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR THE US, ITALIAN TRADE COMMISSION

ABOUT THE ITALIAN TRADE COMMISSION:
The Italian Trade Commission is the Government Agency entrusted with the mission to facilitate contacts between Italian companies and the rest of the world. In the United States our objective is to expand relations between Italian and American companies and to develop trade between Italy and the U.S. To attain this goal, we disseminate information, we assist companies in selecting sectors and partners, we promote products through exhibitions, b-to-b meetings, tradeshows, seminars, trade delegations both in Italy and the U.S. and though tastings and media campaigns. Our global network counts 75 offices in 65 countries. In the U.S. we are located in New York, Atlanta, Chicago. Los Angeles and Miami.

ONE OF THE NEWER IMPORTS: ITALIAN APPLES IN THE U.S.
Two years after the trade agreement allowing the export of Italian apples to America, the Italian industry is continuing the promotion of Italian apples in the United States.

On February 14th the Consortium FROM Italian Alps launched a promotion with Corrado’s Supermarkets’ 5 locations in New Jersey, where  Italian Galas, Granny Smith and Golden Delicious will be available through February 28th. The activity is implemented in collaboration with  the Italian Trade Commission office in New York.  With a production of 2.4 million tons, Italy is among the biggest world players in the industry and is at the forefront of research and innovation in the sector. Technology allows the treatment of pathologies in the most natural ways. That translates to delicious, safe and healthy products.

Living in the production areas and consuming the products, producers are the best testimonials of FROM awareness of the environmental and social responsibility aspects of the production. Passion and dedication are the secret ingredients of FROM’s success- 15,000 producers grouped in 4 producer organizations in a system that promotes the fair share of responsibilities and strict set of production values.  You will taste the difference.

About FROM Italian Alps: FROM was established in June 2009 by four majour producer organizations of Trentino and South Tyrol (Melinda, la Trentina, VOG and Vi.P) to access and develop markets outside the European Union. FROM counts on the hard work of its growers, producing over 20 different varieties and an average production of 1,5 million tons/year, of which 50.000 tons are certified organic.
