What's Cookin' Today Hour ONE:

Dietitian Susan Davis is Going to Tell Us About the Wild, Wild Blueberries - and the Importance of Blueberries in Our Diet!

Throughout the 2010 Guidelines, increasing vegetable and fruit intake is always at the top of the list of recommendations. Lowering calorie intake is also strongly recommended throughout the Guidelines. Wild Blueberries are extremely low in calories, yet contain an abundance of nutrients that can prevent certain cancers and even lower the onset of diabetes. They are easy to come by in the grocery store, as several producers quick freeze Wild Blueberries during harvest season, and they retain all of their taste and nutritional properties for up to two years.

Susan Davis is a registered dietitian who has done extensive research with the health benefits of incorporating Wild Blueberries into ones diet. She is able to elaborate on the different ways in which one can incorporate Wild Blueberries into daily consumption.

Celebrity Chef Michelle Bernstein and Dr. Malissa Wood Offer Tips on Talking About Heart Disease, Including a Recipe That Starts the Conversation!

Heart disease is still the number one killer of women, taking the life of one out of every three women each year. This means women just like you - mothers, sisters, friends - are dying at the rate of one per minute because they don’t know that heart disease kills.

This year, the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement is encouraging your audience to Make It Their Mission to stop this number one killer by telling 5 women they love about the risk of heart disease. The AHA is turning to all of us to spread the truth about these staggering statistics: 90percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease and 80 percent of cardiac events in women may be prevented.

To help get the conversation started, celebrity Chef Michelle Bernstein will be on hand, to offer a heart healthy recipe you can share with special women in your lives and start the conversation about personal heart health. Joining Chef Bernstein today, February 3, 2011 (the day before National Wear Red Day) is Dr. Malissa Wood a nationally recognized expert in cardiovascular diseases in women.

Chef Michelle Bernstein is a James Beard Foundation Award-winning Chef from Miami, Florida, known for her Latin-style flavors of cooking. Michelle will also be launching her own line of cookware, called Michelle B, which will be sold on HSN.

Dr. Malissa Wood is devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease in women. Dr. Wood currently serves as the Co-Director of the MGH Heart Center Corrigan Women’s Health Program and is the PI of the Happy Heart Trial – a primary prevention in low income women study designed to improve the cardiovascular health of high risk women. What's Cookin' Today Hour TWO:

Maryann Stansfield, Marketing Director of the Travel Paso Robles Alliance, Gives Us All the News for Beautiful Paso Robles!

In Spanish, Paso Robles means “Pass of the Oaks,” a tribute to the rolling hills and majestic oaks that captivated our pioneers. Today, these oaks are joined by vineyards, olive orchards, farms and ranches that inspire the local cuisine and culture.

Paso Robles resides midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles on California’s Central Coast. Our community of 30,000 residents is known for its warm hospitality and entrepreneurial spirit. The heart of downtown is called City Park, a classic plaza featuring grand old shade trees, a Carnegie library, a children’s playground and a traditional bandstand that serves as the centerpiece for our many events. All around the park, restaurants, wine bars, pubs, inns and specialty shops set a relaxed and flavorful tone amid early 20th century-style architecture.

Just minutes from town, along country roads, you will discover what Sunset Magazine recently called the West Coast’s “most exciting wine region,” where more than 200 wineries make their home.

Brimming with good taste yet always down to earth, Paso Robles is pleased to be in your plans!

PERFECT COUPLES
Thursdays (8:30-9 p.m. ET) on NBC
“Perfect Couples” is a romantic comedy that follows three flawed pairs trying to get it right.
Dave (Kyle Bornheimer, “Worst Week”) and Julia (Christine Woods, “Flash Forward”) are the “everyday couple,” messed up in all the “normal” ways. Dave struggles to keep both his wife and his needy best friend, Vance (David Walton, NBC’s “100 Questions”) happy. Vance and the volatile Amy (Mary Elizabeth Ellis, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) are the high-passion, high-drama couple who bring out the best and worst in each other.

The third duo features Rex (Hayes MacArthur, “She’s Out of My League”) and Leigh (Olivia Munn, “Attack of the Show,” “The Daily Show”). Rex is a reformed party guy who has channeled his jock energy into a competitive drive to be the ideal mate. Leigh, a self-anointed relationship guru, has formed the perfect union with Rex, and now considers it her duty to mold the other couples in their image.
“Perfect Couples” is produced by Universal Media Studios. Show creators Jon Pollack (“30 Rock”) and Scott Silveri (“Friends”) serve as executive producers with Andy Ackerman (“Seinfeld,” “The New Adventures of Old Christine”), who also directed the pilot.
