Catherine McCord Is Making the Kitchen a Family Destination -  Kid Friendly
Catherine McCord (born May 10, 1974) is an American fashion model, actress, and television program hostess. McCord appeared in "Gridiron Gang" staring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and began modeling for Elite Model Management at the age of 14. She has modeled for Victoria's Secret and L’eggs pantyhose, appeared on the covers of Glamour and ELLE magazines, and done runway modeling for Donna Karan and Calvin Klein. For a time, she was one of the female co-hosts of MTV's Loveline television show. FHM magazine readers voted her one of the sexiest women in the world for 2001. A born athlete, Catherine excelled at running and basketball, and was working towards an athletic scholarship when she got a devastating hip injury. Soon after, when a friend signed her up for a local modeling contest, little did Catherine know that this would be the first step on the path to a successful modeling career. Discovered by Elite Models Management at 15, Catherine went on to win “Look of the Year,” Elite’s premiere and prestigious modeling contest. From there, she spent her summers in New York or Paris, modeling for Victoria’s Secret, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, and other prestigious designers in the fashion industry. Catherine soon ventured into television, as well, landing roles as reporter on Extra!, Dick Clark’s Rocking New Year’s Eve, and a run as co-host on MTV’s Loveline with Dr. Drew and Adam Corrola. Fortunately, Catherine avoided the pitfalls many young models find themselves in, such as drug abuse and eating disorders, attributing her success to a strong sense of family values, and an understanding about what she needed to give her body in order for it to function properly. Her parents supported her modeling career and grounded her with guidance. Catherine’s dad encouraged her to save her money so that she could one day afford to focus on her true passion – cooking and food.  That time came in 2002, soon after the devastating attacks of 9/11. Impacted by the tragedy, Catherine decided to finally follow her dreams and enroll at the Institute for Culinary Education in Manhattan. She modeled during the day and went to school at night. “It was a juggle,” she says, but powerfully fulfilling. In hindsight, that juggle was nothing compared to balancing work and family. Now, a wife and mother, Catherine strives to find solutions to the challenges of busy life. After having her children, Catherine realized she wanted them to delight in fresh, seasonal food the way she did as a child. Observing a lack of resources for other parents to do the same, Catherine created Weelicious as a platform to show parents around the world how easy and beneficial it is to expose children early on to whole, delicious, homemade food. “Involving kids in the process,” Catherine concludes, “will help lead them to make healthier choices as they grow.”

Gary Owens - Legendary Broadcaster
Gary Owens (born May 10, 1936) is an American disc jockey and voice actor. His polished baritone speaking voice generally offers deadpan recitations of total nonsense, which he frequently demonstrated as the announcer on Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. Owens is equally proficient in straight or silly assignments and is frequently heard in television, radio, and commercials. He's best known as the voice of Space Ghost on Space Ghost. He also was himself on Space Ghost Coast to Coast in 1998.
Owens was also known as "Superbeard", because like his contemporary radio icon Wolfman Jack, he sported a goatee-beard, wore Hawaiian shirts, baggy Bermuda shorts, and his "1941 wide necktie with a hula girl on it". Often during these comedy skits on the air he would have the assistance of other radio comics, most notably Bob Arbogast (known as "Arbo" to his adoring fans), Stan Ross (of "Drowning in the Surf" fame in 1963), and Jim "Weather Eyes" Hawthorne.Owens also did his famous "Good Evening Kiss" on KMPC when he was on from 9PM to Midnight, by saying "Now I'll just snuggle up to a nice warm microphone, and embracemoi," making a big wet kiss sound effect followed by the sound effect of a gong striking. In 1966, Owens collaborated with Bob Arbogast, June Foray, Daws Butler, Paul Frees and others on a hilarious comedy spoof record album titled "Sunday Morning With the Funnies" with the Jimmy Haskell Orchestra on Reprise Records. During this period, Owens became more widely known as the voice of the eponymous TV cartoon characters in Roger Ramjet and Space Ghost, the excitable narrator/announcer from The Perils of Penelope Pitstop, and perhaps most well-known, as the announcer on Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, all the while continuing his show on KMPC. He appeared regularly as a television newscaster on The Green Hornet during the 1966-67 season. He also hosted its daily game show spin-off, Letters to Laugh-In, during its brief run in 1969. Capitalizing on Owens' "Laugh-In" fame, Mel Blanc Audiomedia, an audio production company based in Beverly Hills, CA, developed and marketed "The Gary Owens Special Report," a 260-episode package of syndicated radio comedy shows. He also appeared in the Sesame Street pilot in a skit called The Man from Alphabet. He was a scriptwriter for Jay Ward Productions, has appeared in many series for Walt Disney, and has done over 30,000 commercials. He was also a guest star on The Munsters and McHale's Navy.

These practices can range from the extreme measures taken by Charles Manson and his followers to the faith-based methods of scientologists. While some attribute these alternative therapies to spiritual awakenings and positive lifestyle changes, too often they result in negative effects to the body and mind.  “Most people believe they are not at risk of falling victim cultic mind manipulation,” says Lee Byrd, a world-renowned expert on alternative psychological therapies. “After years of research into this dangerous world, however, I have learned that we are all vulnerable in one way or another.”  The granddaughter of pioneering polar explorer Admiral Richard E. Byrd, Lee Byrd’s interest in new age therapies began during her teen years outside of Philadelphia, PA. Both restaurants offer the finest cusines and if truth be told, The 'Saints" and the "Colts" ar bothe great teams, but the time has come to pay up.

3/19 - Dave Eigen, Minute to win, Doug Brode, UNICEF, The Movie Guy

Friday March 19, 2010
"What's Cookin' Today" with Mike and Paul
 Live Monday-Friday (8-9 AM PT) CRN1

David Eigen, Phd -  "Men-The Gods of Love "
Tiger Woods mistress and porn star Joslyn James did as advertised and posted over 100 sexy text messages Tiger Woods allegedly sent her on her website earlier today. The topics? Choking, threesomes, golden showers, etc. Standard fare for Tiger Woods. We're starting to get an idea of why Elin Woods is supposedly so irate over Tiger's dalliances with Joslyn James, even though he had a dozen other mistresses. Our guest is an expert on relationships and author of  "Women - The Goddesses of Wisdom: The Journey of Womanhood"  and  "Men-The Gods of Love " and has written extensively about Tiger Woods and his problems. Recently David Eigen said - " There is much confusion about sex addiction and whether it really exists, especially considering it is a proper biological function that usually is pleasurable. For men, it is much more than a mere biological function. Sex is a large part of life for men, they are taught, “big boys don’t cry, suck it up, be a man, don’t show weak feelings.” Sex is the only real way men are allowed to feel and express anything other than anger. Sex, we men are taught, is what quells the loneliness and fills the inner void. It is the tenderness we crave inside, the intimate vulnerability. To need all this is disallow for men. So get it up and get it on! Sex is also taught as the measure of the man. This can be true for women too, but it is usually not as overwhelming a measure."

Before coming to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, she served as Chief Operating Officer of the Anti-Defamation League following many years as Education Director and Director of the A World of Difference Institute.  Access to clean, plentiful tap water is something we all take for granted. But did you know that nearly 900 million people in the world do not have access to safe, clean water? Not to mention that nearly half of those people are children. That’s why UNICEF is continuing to help provide safe drinking water to children around the world with their annual Tap Project, a call to action inviting Americans to pay $1 for a glass of tap water that they would normally enjoy for free. For every dollar raised, a child will have clean drinking water for 40 days. In 2009 alone, more than 1,500 restaurants from 40 states and more than 3100 volunteers participated, making it the largest volunteer mobilization effort for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, and giving millions of children water in nations with the greatest need. Haiti was one.

Art Snyder - "Don the Beachcomber" - How to make the Perfect Mai Tai
In December 1931 a somewhat adrift 24-year-old washed up in Southern California, looking for something to do. A native of New Orleans, he was named Ernest Raymond Beaumont Gantt. A couple of years after he arrived in Los Angeles, Gantt happened upon a newly vacated tailor shop just off Hollywood Boulevard. He built a bar that would seat about two dozen customers and scattered a few tables in the remaining space. He decorated the place with his South Pacific gewgaws, along with old nets and parts of wrecked boats he scavenged from the oceanfront. He called his watering hole Don the Beachcomber. The joint became so much part of his personality that he legally changed his name. Ernest Gantt was now Donn Beach. He was the inventor of the tiki bar, a new kind of place that, over the next 30 years, would migrate from the cities to the suburbs and beyond. Donn beach remained a fixture in Honolulu until he died in 1989 at the age of 81. The New York Times ran a brief obituary that painted him as a sort of Thomas Edison of the thatched-roof bar and the inventor of 84 bar drinks.

Paul Kronenberg - President Family Winemakers of CA
Latest tasting was held in Pasadena, CA  yesterday and Mike Horn was in attendance. Since it’s founding in 1991, Family Winemakers of California has presented an Annual Tasting. Originally, the Tasting was developed as a trade-only event; an opportunity for member-wineries and California’s wine trade to gather together and talk about the issues foremost in the minds of industry members while tasting great wine. Because FWC represented the smaller wineries the tasting was a unique opportunity to showcase the winemaking craftsmanship of vintners from across the state.  The original event at the Sheraton Palace Hotel featured 46 wineries and with each Annual Tasting, its reputation as one of the finest opportunities to taste a broad, cross section of California wines grew. And the size of the tasting grew. Each year more wineries chose to attend and pour wines. More restaurateurs, retailers, distributors and media converged on the tasting. The Annual Tasting quickly became one of the most anticipated wine events in California. How times have changed since 1991.
